Yeah, I know exactly what you're saying. That's why I haven't bought a welder yet.

I went through the same thing with the mill. "This one should be fine (but a Bridgeport would definitely do anything I'd ever want)." The side work I've done over the past 10 years could all be done with the smaller machines, and that's what I'm trying to base my selections on. One thing that I've got going for me is that I still have access to the shop I used to work at and they've got all the gear I'd ever need. This smaller mill and whatever welder I end up with should eliminate most of the runs to Nashville I've made for a "30 minute job". I will admit, I'm trying to save a few bucks here so I can get a little work done on the Road King soon.

That is a huge side benefit.  I'm the say way here for machine tools.  A buddy locally whose business is machine work and tool & die lets me use the equipment when needed and not in their way so I can choose to have a lot less at home than I might otherwise choose to.  It still sucks at midnight on a Saturday night when you're three hours in to a task then suddenly can't play/work anymore when, dammit, the tool or local parts or whatever isn't available.

Joe, I would say the HTP Invertig 221 is the equivalent of the new Miller Dynasty 210 but at a much lower cost when you compare apples to apples.  However, it might have more bells and whistles than you need for what you plan to do.  Excellent unit for aluminum as it puts out 220 amps.

Other than the obvious limitations of material thickness at the lower 180 amps, which I am concerned about, what else am I missing?

AC frequency and balance adjustment, slope up and slope down settings, preflow and post flow gas settings, arc start and HF start selection.

Very nice but you must store every neighborhood bicycle for 2sq miles.

I was thinking owning a bicycle was like owing a Harley... you had to have spares. :nixweiss: :huepfenlol2: :huepfenlol2:

Like motorcycles, the right number to own is always n+1...  ;)

But, unlike motorcycles, bicycles take up a lot less room and have no annual recurring ownership costs...

So, here's the question: did you find the 3-seat racing tandem?

First picture ... on the wall in front of us, up high sort of behind the garage door rails. You can see the multiple triangles in the frame and the tubes for the seat posts. Have to admit looking for it only after you asked.

Babe and I noticed it but thought it was four seats.  I've never even seen a three seat before.  You have to post pics of it being ridden.

One for each occasion.

Hotfire, nice stable.

Is that a '77'ish GL1000 or GL1100?

I had a very low mileage '77 and GL1000 and it ran quite nice.  For the day, it was also quite fast.  I had all the Vetter fairing and bags painted to match the bike.  Overall it wasn't a bad looking bike.

Again, nice bikes.  I really love the simplicity of the Wing.
