I think having the black part adds a touch of class!

We were all setting at a red lite and everyone was taking turns sounding there pipes off and then it was my turn and I hit the horn
and I thought everyone was going to fall off their bike laughing so hard... ;D ;D

Jim,
It looks like you hit the bad luck lottery on a casting that wouldn't accept a weld.  Like you said, that's a perfect loss of a weld.  That's definitely not a crack.  Bummer that it had to happen, but at least they are going to fix it up, hopefully, right for you.  Good luck on it, and I hope they get it fixed fast enough, so that you don't miss out on all the good riding weather with your Jester.  I know a loaner is no match for the CVO.
Cheers :2vrolijk_21:,

Well, I'm hoping that if push comes to shove, I can see out the season on my J-B Weld repair, Charlie - then they can repair over the winter.  If it ever stops raining (after all our warm sunshine, it's been raining for a week!) I'll go out and put a couple of hundred miles on the bike, and see how my repair holds up.

The only downside to your JB Weld repair is the poor next guy.  If the dealer sees this solution, sees that it was functional for a riding season before they're finally allowed to change a motor, and thinks they can then get away with the same thing the next guy that has a like problem won't get a motor.  He'll get JB Weld for a warranty repair.....

Plus do you really think it will not be in your every thought on every ride from now on? Remember the "Wild Hogs" pushing their bike up that hill, in the hot sun? Grab a loaner and make them do the right thing, if not just for your peace of mind. :2vrolijk_21:

IMO the JB Weld will hold up just fine. That stuff is used in all sorts of racing applications. This doesn't mean I think that should be the end of it. Of course you deserve what you have coming. This just means your riding season isn't on hold until the warranty repair is done.

I have epoxy in the ports of my intake and various spots on my carb. It's been there for years. :2vrolijk_21:

No, it'll get repaired, and the next guy (I hope there never is one!) will be like me and insist on a proper warranty repair.   The JB Weld is just "insurance" - I'm not taking their loaner on my vacation, come what may, and if they aren't going to have it done in time....

 ;)

The talk about engine replacements makes me wonder a bit about the warranties.  Do you get to start the engine warranty from the date of the install, no matter what the date of the bike purchase was?  I know, I've been playing this warranty game with my heated grips for a couple of years now, but how does an engine warranty work? Just wondering.
