Anyone running this new Garmin yet?  StreetPilot 7500.  Reading about it on Garmin's website shows that you can subscribe to an XM service where weather radar images (and others) are sent down and overlayed on the GPS screen.  That would be pretty cool.  Little larger than the 2610 I have now but I bet I could find room.

You are going to need to know when the rain is coming because this unit isn't waterproof. See here - StreetPilot® 7500 (click on the "specs" tab).

LOL!!! No harm amongst friends, but not so good for this GPS unit.

Yes, well further investigation also shows that this unit does not receive the weather radar images.  It only receives "basic weather" in relation to traffic (current condition, forcast, etc.).  The only Garmins that receive the true weather radar data are the marine and aviation units.

Ohhh well.. maybe someday.

Works sometimes, unless I am looking backwards.

I get nearly 100% accuracy when I stick my tongue to check for rain.  Not quite 100% though as the occasional pigeon screws with my forecasting.

I used to ride with folks who would look up with their mouths open when it rained.  After a couple of them drowned, we made the others wear helmets with full face shields.

That's not always a problem though.  There are benefits to riding with someone who doesn't have a gag reflex  .
