Cylinder base gasket oil leak
« on: May 15, 2007, 06:54:36 PM »

:(  Just wondering if any of you are experiencing cylinder base gasket oil leaks?  Had my Jester in for the 5K maintenance and the stealer claims that one of the gaskets is leaking oil and HD told them to replace both of them.. The parts are on order and I will be dropping off the bike soon for the repair. You cannot see any oil leaking, just a small stain of oil around the bottom of the jug where it meets the case.  Do you guys think I should spring for the diamond cut jugs while they are off?????  Any head work needed at this time while its apart?????? I'm already running the D&D Fatcat 2 into 1 Exhaust, big sucker, zipperes ECM and auto tune module. Bike runs great!!! Respect your ideas and / or just looking for an excuse to spend more $$$$$$$$$$  LOL!  :bananarock:

The 110s are having a few issues.  The diamond cutting looks brilliant.  That makes for a Catch 22.  Before I'd consider it I'd have a long talk with the servicing dealership to make sure they're not going to use diamond cutting to void the warranty on other future engine problems.

Funny how you call them the "stealers". My 01 SERG seeps around the rear cylinder base. My "stealer" told me 'don't worry about it'. I just clean it off from time to time. Maybe the shop where you have your work done isn't busy enough. :confused5:

mrigeo, the MoCo is replacing all of the leakers on the '07's.  It's a known defect to them and they are also having the dealers send the defective gaskets in to see what the issue is.

Glas to hear yours hasn't been an issue for you on the '01.

Same here. My 01 gets very little weepage. Usually only when I'm on the throttle for long periods of time. It has never gotten to the point of concern. Another reason to keep my 01. :2vrolijk_21:
