Picking up my upgraded SEFB TODAY!!
« on: May 18, 2007, 01:22:28 PM »

I have just got the good word I will be riding my '05 today. Over a month of waiting for the completion and install of these mods:

Woods Cam W/Gear Drive
J & E Pistons
Feuling Oil Pump and Cam plate
TE Gasket Set
Timken Bearing upgrade
Screamin' Eagle Roller Rocker Arms
Compression Release Points
Screamin Eagle springs (I don't know what this is, but I got it)
New fasteners and Lots of labor.

We go to the dyno in 500 + miles or after break in period is done. A couple of oil changes and then some more fluids etc, and then it's on. Which brings a question to mind:

After setting up the "Dream Performance Package of a Lifetime" ( in my mind anyways...) Do I go back to Syn 3 or to regular oil or a blend? I am sure the package now commands a different oil, but what?

I have a Feuling Oil Cooler Kit on the way for those LA Hot SUMMER Days and Nights. After the Break in, that gets installed and then, It's on....

I will share some pictures.....

Congrats on getting your bike back I'm sure you'll be grinning from ear to ear when you twist the throttle now. I wouldn't go back to Syn3 at all, matter fact I wouldn't have put it in there when they put the motor back together. There are a lot better oils out there for your bike.... Redline, Amsoil, Mobil 1, etc. anything but Syn3 in all three holes.  I run Amsoil in the motor, Redline MTL in primary, and Redline Heavy Duty Shockproof in tranny.

Kona,

Great pics thanks. I am jealous of your monster mods & can't wait to hear how she goes. I think you already had a 50mm TB didn't you? What base map are you running for the break in period?? Like d00d said don't be running that syn3 crap use something decent like Mobil 1 V-Twin in the motor, Redline Heavy Duty Shock Proof in the tranny & Redline MTL in the primary.

Cheers

Lots of suggestions from many different walks of life, and most agree: Don't use the Syn 3 in the motor. The builder and I have discussed the use of oil during the performance engine break in period as well as the stock break in oil. The first 100 -150 miles will be a Blend (Syn and 20/50) or just regular 20/50, to assist in the seating of the rings. I believe this to be the most logical way to start, pending an oil change at no more than 150 miles. Of course that is in my Humble Opinion.

Still not completely sold on one brand or the other for other lubrications; for now I will go with the suggestions of the builder.  Me thinks Redline is in order for the tranny and primary as you have stated.

I had the idea of mounting the Feuling Oil Cooler right up where there are two holes in the top of the crossbrace, horizontally. See Attached

Every part that can be ordered with the "Feuling" brand name in this upgrade was Feuling, either direct or from Drag Specialities.
