Where are you seeing this dust? Can you provide a picture? I might just be brake dust. :nixweiss:

It a combination of brake dust, rubber dust, air pollution, diesel soot, plain dirt dust, pollen etc. etc.  Gets on every vehicle that's on the road.  It's also that "grit" you feel on your face after a ride.

That is common unfortunately. >:( Only way to fix/repair this from what I've been told is to split the cases as there is not supposed to be any fluid in that space between the motor and tranny. I personally use a little "Brake-Kleen" to get rid of the stain (careful w/this around painted parts), and others have gotten a cover from H-D or Kuryakyn to cover it.

A little WD40 on a rag will also get this stuff off.  I'm working on covering mine up with chrome.... :2vrolijk_21:

As reluctant (can you believe that when it comes to chrome :o) as I've been I'm thinking more and more this way. Let me know/see what you do.

There are fitment issues with the chrome pushrod block covers, Gary.  Don't know why HD can't make two chrome covers that fit together... >:(  I think it can be modified to fit easily.

However, I found a new set of HD Billet Blocks, Billet Pushrod Tubes and associated hardware, so those will be going on with the cams this fall/winter and the covers coming off.  Then the cover we need will fit fine... :2vrolijk_21:  I'm gathering parts a little at a time.  Now I need some Billet Rocker Box Covers...

Hmm, ok, thanks for the info. Do you know if this issue is the same w/the Kurykan cover?

Maybe  :nixweiss: ?
I thought it was you. Will that piece fit w/the covers that I have on now (like the ones you used to have), and does it look alright by itself w/out the transmission side cover. I'm just looking for something to cover the seam that gets the film/sweating on it. It looks like to install you just take two bolts loose for tranny cover and slide that piece under and bolt it back down. Did I miss anything? ;D

Nope, that's it.  You covered the bases perfectly.  Here's the cover when the old lifter block covers were still installed.  No fitment problem at all Gary.
