« on: May 23, 2007, 04:53:07 PM »

I coulcn't see the tach the other morning and could swear it limited me which made me look down and see the tach stuck on 5500.  Is it limited there and have any of you hit it as well?

Hi thats exactly where mine cuts out also, got brave and hammerd it today for the  first time, motor starts missing and backfiring. Felt and sounded like it could rev more with no problem

may be the rev limiter of the stock ignition, a programmable ignition should rectify that .
I use a Dyna TC88-2 and it works well.

Hate to admit it but I hit that limiter all the time, even the 6900 one in my '06 Civic. Getting better as time goes by, just a feel i guess. The Harley feels like it could go a bit more, just too cheap to go with the P/C or SERT right now. Too much CHROME to add, we have our priorities!  Wrongway

On the fuelie's they have a ECM that carries a map that controls ignition timing and the rev limit. The 103's run out of power at around 5600 to 5800. Unless you have some mods that will make power above 6000 there would be no reason to twist the motor that high. A change in the fuel injection management can raise the rev limit along with some other things.
