Looking for Seat and Saddlebags
« on: May 30, 2007, 04:57:59 PM »

Looking to buy a Corbin Tan Ostrich Leather Seat, and was wondering if anyone knew if there was a way to get leathers from Corbin to make saddlebags to match, or does Corbin have a company to make them or something?

Any information would be helpful Corbin hasn't answered any of my e-mails.

Tommy, to my knowledge, Corbin does not build leather saddlebags.  I'm sure there are other custom saddle makers out there who will do what you have in mind...it would look sharp on your bike, no doubt.  Alligator Bob could certainly do it, but be prepared to get off your wallet big time.  See Spiderman's 03 SERK for an example of his workmanship.  The Ostrich would certainly be a cheaper build than some of the more exotic skins.

At least in the past they would sell material directly.  Did it once several years ago.

Tommy, I'm sorry, I thought I had answered this, but I see I have not.  There is a guy in Richmond, not far from you, Roy Baird.  His business "Custom Seats" and he sells all kinds of exotic skins.  I've seen a plethora of his work, it is very, very good.  Call for an Appointment - 804-359-2471.  He claims that his leather is marine grade - what ever that means - but it does look very good.  I've seen him redo a few of the road king classic bags and they all look fantastic. Have also seen him recover a helmet, he says in the winter he can recover anything.  I asked him about my lower fairing the covers and the black plastic part, but he was not too interested in that much work, but I've personally seen the seats and the bags, and they look great.
