Nice touch , but just like bikes ..
paint doesn't make them louder or faster despite what we may think..

Les Pauls are wonderful

I've got a 79 Gibson Les Paul custom I bought new , one of my favorites, hard to believe I've been playin her for almost 30 years.

This site is amazing. I learn, and laugh, get to reminisce... thanks Neal!
Anyway, I don't play guitar (wish I could), but seeing the name Les Paul here reminded me that I met him (without "Mary Ford") briefly back in the mid-60s.  I worked at an electronic store and the owner was friends with him.  It was about the time Les was selling his big house with the built-in recording studio. I loved his guitar playing, and loved sound recording.  Being a teenager, I was all full of myself and was explaining how I'd just modified a 1/4" deck to record-over with a mixer, (overdub) giving great echo. I remember him smiling and nodding, and adding a few comments.

Later my boss told me that Les did that in the late '40s. :-[

Sign of old age: things from years ago are more easily remembered than what I had for breakfast. :huepfenlol2:

Beerman,
            Awesome  :2vrolijk_21:

Although I would have used a Fender Strat. The Les Paul is a gorgeous guitar in it's original trim. The Fender not so even though they sound killer when played.

If you are ever in Memphis, stop by the Gibson factory on legendary Beale Street. Not only can they make a custom V or Les Paul to your taste, you can watch them make and test them. A little old man sits and puts down licks like Eric Clapton  Just went to their site to look for one of the Harley Davidson editions, could not find any but did find this Indian. For an extra charge they will do anything theme you want. Used to have a minimum of 6 but I understand they have dropped the minimum and now will do one of a kind. A few years ago, the best seller and most requested by walk-ins was "Lucille" (B. B. King) who also has a bar a few doors down on Beale Street. It is like Bourbon Street 20 years ago, without the strip joints (just bar after bar with a bunch of restaurants thrown in)

Y'all come on down, ya hear. ;D

Over 45 years for me and I still ain't got any talent. Must be something else in common with CVOers, not the no talent, the inability to part with things. I still have my 64 Jaguar Jazzmaster and Fender Dual Showman Amp (pre CBS), along with 65 Jazz Bass, 64 Gibson EB2 (Cherry), various other strats and teles, etc. I can't part wit nuttin. If anyone is interested, I'll post some pix. To me, they have become works of art and represent more yards I cut than I can count.
