New Bike Pix
« on: June 04, 2007, 07:55:26 PM »

Well....the glorious day finally arrived.  Picked up my new Cherry CUSE2 from Dallas Harley Davidson.  These people are a real pleasure to deal with, and I recommend them to anyone.  I am absolutely thrilled with everything on this bike....can't say enough.  One problem - I am absolutely mortified by the "tapping" noise I am getting from the top end of the engine....especially around 2800-3000 r.p.m.  Only 125 miles on the bike, so I am keeping my eye on it.  Also, I got a pretty good chirping noise from the transmission in 5th gear, but I suspect it was because my r.p.m.'s were too low.  I will be keeping an eye on that one as well.  Again...can't say enough about the little beast and how happy I am with it.  First time posting pix....hope they make it up.

Panther,
Congrats on the arrival of the new scooter to your stable. :2vrolijk_21: The noise you hear on the top end of the motor may well be an issue relating to clearance of valve/valve springs on the rocker boxes. This has been noticed by several here concerning the 110 motors. The noise that you are hearing in the transmission also has been noted and H-D is aware of it also. They are saying it's because of the way the gears are cut and you will hear this noise. What you may want to do is consider using a different fluid in the transmission. Many here have switched to Amsoil, Redline Heavy Duty Shock Proof, Mobil, and other brands which are way better then the Syn3 provided by the MoCo.

Hey Panther, welcome aboard. Nice ride, good luck with it. You'll probably need the rocker boxes clearanced, and keep an eye on the head gaskets too, especially the rear. I see you've got your pipes already, and remap too, I assume. Don't worry about the "5th gear whine". Like d00d said, it's the way the gears are cut. You get used to it and get to like it. I did. You always know 5th gear too. I use Redline, but you still hear it. Don't go below 2000 RPM in any gear except first. Below that's lugging. Enjoy your new bike and the site! Hoist! 8)

Nice looking scoot!  Re: those noises are common - just follow the recommendations above.  You might also consider remapping the motor once you replace the Air filter and drop the AFR down from 14.6 to something more reasonable -- that will save your motor and legs...

Welcome aboard!! I picked up mine a week ago. Absolutely LOVE it. Carbon copy of yours, too. I've noticed the noises you have, but I'm thinking I'll wait a bit before going to the dealer with it. I made close to 800 miles the first week, killed my back cleaning it after getting caught in the rain, and had to go back to work. I'll be gone a month.

Enjoy and ride safe.

Great looking bike, Panther!  For some reason, mine looks almost exactly like yours.   :2vrolijk_21:  Nice RK, too.

Have not been to Dallas HD in a while but they are great folks.  Did some demo rides there a long time back.

Panther,
Congratulations! Welcome to the site. Keep your eyes peeled on both the info posted and your wallet!  :huepfenlol2:
Ditto to all the previous comments - heavy synthetic of the Ams or Redline persuasion (Ams in my trans - still whiny but better)
You may want to consider true duals to go with the Rinehart slip-on's along with breather upgrade for efficieny and temp imrovements.
Have the rocker boxes checked at your 1K service (don't take no for an answer).

Nice  :cherry: color choice!
