Jacked UP

Any one know if the craftman bike lift will fit under the SEEG? And any other options if it won't. Counting down to the new one. Due Feb. 5th!! Happy New Years to you all! [smiley=drink.gif]

I have a Craftsman lift and it will fit but it is very tight.  Running the bike up on some wood blocks helps, though, so for as often as I have it up on there it is fine.  But, there are several other alternatives out there that are lower, although more expensive.

I have the Crafsman lift as well. It works just as 103thunder states with the front wheel off the ground a bit. I run the front wheel of my bike up my motorcycle ramp and then slide the jack under the bike. To me there is one place under the bike that the lift seems to work best and sometimes it takes a few times to find the sweet spot. Doing it by myself was a little unnerving at first, but now it is routine [smiley=laugh.gif].

I got the super jack II.  It goes down to 3.75 Inches.  I wouldn't pay the list price, but the folks at Littleton Harley in NH, gave me a great price that I couldn't pass up.  Great jack.

I saw an Aluminum Jack on the Sams Club sight that if worked would be great. It had a handle and wheels like a regular floor jack and  the platform for a motorcycle.

I have a Black Jack that goes down to less than 4" and has a huge base frame. Bike is totally stable when fully up on lift. I have a friend who has a craftsman lift, He just leans the bike to the rt a little, just enough to get it off the kickstand and slides it under with his foot. No problem. Both his and mine, which is over a foot wider at the base, where wheels are mounted, than his craftsman are much more stable when totally raised. This places the bike more squarely over the lower "frame" of the lift vs it "hanging" off the side of the frame. You can climb on the bike, and feel comfortable doing it on mine, you can't on the Craftsman, it just does not "feel" safe. But biggest diff is the $200 more dollars I spent, Probably would again, but the Craftsman will work.

I use a Pit Bull air over hydraulic for mine. It just does slip under the bike, lifts the bike 25 inches, and it has a huge foot print for stability. The one designed for the Dyna bikes works great on the SEEG. The rear jack pad fits just perfectly in the cross member on the SEEG and gives you a perfect balance and you always put the jack in the same place using the cross member as your reference. They have a great video of the jack being used on an Electra Glide on their web site. They also have a picture of the bike on the jack with three people sitting on the bike while it is in the air. It's definitely not inexpensive but after going through a couple of inexpensive jacks that were unstable, hard to position, jerky going down, and overall poor quality I view it as a bargain. All the pivot points have bushings and grease fittings, and once I slide it under the bike, I never have to touch the bike either going up or down. It has a 12 ton air over hydraulic jack and comes back down very slow and smooth,  settling back down on the jiffy stand. http://www.pitbullmotorcyclelifts.com/Products.htm

Steve, I watched that video and that jack is so cool! [smiley=smoking.gif] I will have to get on of those but it is going to be awhile before I can afford it. In the mean time I will have to be careful and use my Larin MAL-2 I got at Costco when I had my roadking.   See Ya!        JR [smiley=laugh.gif]

I have used the Craftsman jack for mseveral years now with NO problems. On the SEEG I have a 16in piece of 2x6 and roll the front wheel up on it then stand the bike up and start jacking.  Use it this way and wash the bike every Friday,  its also the way I check the tread and carcuse of the tire regularly.
