I believe I did us PROUD!
« on: June 10, 2007, 10:34:45 AM »

I recently completed Run For The Wall ( Southern Route) and just happened to be in the right place at the right time and was selected to ride the " Missing Man Formation" . This is the most honored position in the Run and I can assure you all that as I write this I am starting to well up a  inside with a flood of emotions and memories. Words can't describe the feelings. I called a buddy and told him what was about to happen and he said " RIDE PROUD FOR ALL OF US"!  So that's what I did.  I was going to wait for pics but they haven't been posted yet.  Attached is a picture of the patch I recieved. Just thought with the Fourth upcoming that this would be appropriate.  One of the best quotes I heard on the trip was from  the Governor of MS. when was addressing us,thanking us and said....Why is there more attention paid to Anna Nicole Smith than to our POW"S and MIA'S.????..My only thought is That's why we ride...Thanks Greg

What a great honor and thanks for going. Excellent quote too. I couldn't do D. C. but the wall came to us in Sandusky, OH this past week. Along w/ the wall were the dog tags displayed for the dead in Iraq, Afghanistan and our other conflicts. Very moving to say the least.

Outstanding... Thank you.

I am a 4 time combat vet and have lost many friends over the years.  Let's bring them ALL home!

We Can Bring them all home when there is no longer a need to be there (where ever it may be) or we can bring them home with Honor for the living as well as those who have paid the Price - NOT CUT AND RUN as some would have it, God Bless and thank you for your support.

Excellent Ride post and a Job well one!

Hi, I visited the wall in DC last year and was touched by the memorial with the 58 or so thousand names of those lost in Vietnam.  I have said this before and I will say this again, you Americans do yourself proud.  I wish the same could be said of my country, we tear ourselves apart, we are not allowed to show any form of patriotism in case it upsets the imigrants - were a joke... :soapbox:  Sorry not the place for this.

Please explain the missing man formation and can you tell me what the Southern route is.

Texas103,
Thanks for doing that honor.  To be in the missing man formation would be the ultimate show of respect to those that died in protecting what we so deeply cherish...our freedom.  Freedom does not come cheap.
Cheers :2vrolijk_21:,

That is awesome Greg! Riding anywhere in the pack can be very emotional but that position would get anyone choked up.

Run for the Wall has two routes that ride from Ontario to DC. The Southern and Central routes. Both routes ride using the same formations. Up front are the Flag bearers followed by the Route Coordinator, State Coordinator, and Chaplin. Then the Missing Man formation. Behind that is a pocket for Road Gaurds who are in and out and on call for the Route Coordinator. Then several platoons of bikes each with a Platoon Leader and assistant. After all of the bikes are platoons for bikes pulling trailers and trikes. This is followed by the Chaplin Corp who act as our first response medical crew. Then Last Man vehicle followed by the pickup vehicles for those who have  bike problems. There are also advance teams ahead of all of this. These are another group of Road Gaurds that direct our stops and a Fuel Crew. They even have a guy up there with a siren for animal control when we're in the boonies. Very well organized!!!
