FLHTCUI conversion to quick release tourpack?
« on: January 03, 2005, 11:51:11 PM »

Hi - I'm a newbie here and have (what could be) a silly question.  Has anyone converted their fixed tourpack to a quick-release?  Seems it would require significant wiring fun.  Does anyone make a conversion harness?

Fubar welcome to the site you will find good info here.  So to answer your question yes several people have converted to a detachable tour pak it is very simple,  as for wiring unless you have a spoiler or added tail light in the tour pak there are no wire to worry about.  But if you have added lights the are 2 different plugs you can use for wiring 1 is in front of the battery the other is by the junction of the rear fender and the and the backrest support.  Hope it helps.

I have an '03 Ultra.  It has lights and speakers on the tourpack.  More complicated?

Take your seat off and see how it is wired first.  Then add connectors if needed.  The rest of it is explained clearly in the quick release instructions.  Not difficult to do.

AK,
Sounds great.  I work in Santa Clara so popping over to Cupertino would be easy.

Is it as simple as quick connectors for each wire?

You may also want to try a tune trapper antenna with me it worked better than a dakota digital.

Look like a good solution.  I'm working on a '53 Chevy Truck where this will work great too.

Thanks,
