Trailer Recommendation
« on: June 11, 2007, 08:46:29 PM »

I think we might have had this discussion previously on this site but I would like to get some more input.  I am interested in buying an enclosed trailer that will comfortably haul two Ultras.  I have been looking at some of the 7x14 low profile trailers from Roadmaster and Haulmark.  Does anyone out there have experience in hauling two Ultras in an enclosed trailer?  Will a 7x14 do the job?  I hate to have to go to a 8 footer.  Any other advice on this subject would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks.

D/Z

A 7 x 14 or even 12 will work fine.
The bikes will be staggered with one a foot or so ahead of the other.

S/B is correct.....all you need is a 7x12.  I actually have the Haulmark
low hauler so it will fit in my garage.  However I have a 6x12
as I usually only haul my SEEG.  But I did once have an Ultra and
my road king classic in the trailer.  It was tight but it worked.
I would not get any bigger trailer than you need. :cherry:

I have a Wells Cargo that is 7X14 with staggered chocks and it works fine with two (2) Ultras. I would definitely look into purchasing Condor chocks when equipping the trailer with accessories......

Best accessory(S) you can get for your new 7X12 or 7X14 trailer.

I currently use the Eagle (Bike Pro) wheel chock in my single trailer.  Same principal as the Condor.  It's the only way to go.  Makes loading a one man operation.  I do have a little trouble getting the bike to release from the chock some times.  It takes some effort.

I may know just the company for you.  NO RAMPs, the wheels drop down, you ride your bike on, secure it, press a button and the hydraulics lift the trailer up ready for the road.  I saw it at the caravan show last month.  If your interested I'll dig out the website for you.

I own a 7 x 14 Haulmark "edge" trailer.  It pulls great has room for 2 biggins just watch yer noggin comin and goin.
I did change the pingle chocks out for Bike -Pro one mans, and the floor needs anti-skid tape under the rear wheel.

All n all a nice looking trailer in and out that handles well, just a little pricey.

Try these links;
for ease this folds away and is carried in the boot of the car.  I have one, they're great.  http://www.bikelug.com/

This is the one I was talking about earlier and saves any spills. this is the one I wish I had bought but more expensive.  They will also build to your specification.

My original post was regarding an enclosed trailer.  Not interested in an open one.  Sorry.

As an alternate selection you might look at these; http://www.ironhorsetrailers.com/our-product.php
They will haul two ultras, light weight, and fit in standard garage. John

Really nice trailer.  But, since it appears the bikes must go in side by side (not staggered), and the interior width is 80", I don't see how two Ultras could fit without the fairings touching.
