I have that and a whine when I go into first gear.  I plan to speak to the dealership on Monday.  I'll keep you posted.

By the way, do you find it easy to put the bike in neutral from a stationary position and the engine ticking over.?

Smiler,
Yep mine is tough to find neutral too. I plan on adjusting the clutch this weekend while I change the oil to Amsoil 20W50 and use their trans lube. I am hoping that quiets the noise in the engine. Sure can't hurt.
Oh,
The noise isn't detonation. I only run 100LL av gas.
Thanks for the replies.

For the first inspection, I've given to my dealer the Redline MTL for primary and Redline schockproof heavy for gearbox. Redline is not sold in France.

My dealer says me that my warranty would not be voided if I use a product that meets or exceeds what they use.
But, in case of problem, they'll analyse the oil.
Same situation and words than TCnBham.

It's a lot quieter, smooth and more easy to found the neutral.

I've bought Mobil1 V Twin (not sold in France) for the engine but I've not put.
I wait the end of June, because I'll mount TM/AT, dressers duals, Oval slip-ons and A/C and in same time I'll change oil.
Probably I'll look my rocker boxes....

Have you owned a Harley that wasn't noisy?, every one ive had made noise, some were fairly quiet, some clattered a little, and some sounded like they were going to hammer themselves to pieces, My 07 SE Ultra has some valve train racket between 1800 and 2500 rpms nothing out of the ordinary, my 04 RK clattered so much that other riders would not ride beside me, its the luck of the draw, your sitting right on top of a big 110 cu engine with many moving parts, these motors are tough but they are not quiet.

Just took a little test ride after changing to Amsoil. Still got a little valve train noise but much better.
I went to Amsoild 80/90 syn gear lube in the transmission. BIG Difference. SMOOOTH now. That stuff is great!
I was also able to pick up about .008 more clutch rod travel by bleeding the system, so now neutral works good too. If you have less that .065 travel on the clutch (rod like the manual says), it is going to be tough to get neutral without doing all that rocking. Mine from the dealer only had.059, doubt that they even checked it during the delivery prep.

(Did I mention when I took it back to the dealer to bleed the clutch they wanted to charge me $97 to do it, with less than 450 miles since new? The only sale they will ever get from me again was that bottle of DOT4 I bought so I could do it myself!!)

Life is good now!

After a tad over 2k miles, I notice that I had some additional valve train noise. I only heard one lifter that really sounded like it wasn't playing well with the others. Took it to my local HD shop and they brought out the tech and he got right into it with both ears. He said if it was his, he'd replace the lifters. So, they are early next month. It will be nice to have just good old valve train noise with all the boys playing together.  :D
