Last week, 42 guys made a trip to the NC, GA, SC, & TN mountains in the Smokies area. Mostly Harley riders - also Hondas, BMW's, a Suzuki, a Moto Guzzi, & a Yamaha. 2 CVO's - my 07 SEULTRA and a 07 SERK. Rode from Tallahassee, FL to Franklin, NC and had 3 days in the mountains, with a day travel to and from. Interesting group - some very ggod riders, some in the middle, and for a few it was their first mountain riding experience. A trial by fire is a phrase I heard used a few times.
Groups formed according to riding abilities - mostly formed naturally. Some rode fast and hard (safe but quick), some were a bit off that pace, and others cruised. Nobody cared who rode how, what, or why. Mainly there to have a good time and ride and see stuff. Rode Cherahala Skyway, Foothills Pkwy., Deal's Gap, Hwy. 28 along Fontana, and too many up & down twisties to mention. Started early - around 8:30 (fog, etc.) & rode a different route each day - met for lunch as a group - then rode until around 6 or so. Lots of fun, lots of beer afterwards and maybe 1 or 2 at lunch even......
I'll post a few pics.
