My wife and I took a couple of days away from the children and went to the Battlefields of Gettysburg. It was our first trip together of any distance on the bike. My wife did a fantastic job of packing with keeping the space constraints in mind.
We ventured across Route 222 to Route 30. This was a mix of local roads and short bursts of highway. I never went over 75 at any point and I actually enjoyed just cruising along. We stopped often just for grins and to make sure Ma was holding up OK.
The bike worked very well as it is suppose to. This was my first two up trip with my home-made air suspension. It was perfect. The tour pack was nice and tight even with the license plate bar removed. We both had our own music players playing in our helmets. I had the radio with the voice navigation playing in mine while my wife had her I-pod. That worked out well.
In Gettysburg we stayed at the Farnsworth House, a haunted historic house. My wife is into ghosts big time so this house has history of ghosts from the Civil War. Anyway, it is a nice B&B that is centrally located in town. This allowed us to walk almost everywhere other than the battlefields.
The battlefields and the associated history is overwhelming. I couldn't get enough information. I read every plaque I came across along with any and all handout material. If you have never been there and are within driving distance, make the trip.
Here is a shot of us stopping for a break. Ma wouldn't let me wear a hat so my semi bald head saw a ton of sun!
