« on: June 16, 2007, 01:37:33 AM »

Need your help in looking at the estimate I have for my 110' motor work and see if everything sounds right.
I've lined up a great shop here in the Pacific Northwest to do the work in a couple weeks. Here goes:

3.  Woods 07' Gear drive install kit                                                                           $37.00

7.  Breather kit                                                                                                     $17.00
8.  Rocker Housing gaskets                                                                                     $14.50
9.  Rocker Cover gaskets                                                                                        $14.50
10. Cylinder base O-rings                                                                                        $5.00
11. Misc. O-rings                                                                                                   $5.50

Looks good, is Mike Stegman doing the work as well as the tune? 5 hours for tune, must be heat cycling with the tune.

Do you already have a larger Throttle Body? You'll need it with that setup to get the best performance out of that build. It seems like a nice setup! Have you checked the crank runout. You should, before using the gear drive cams. Good luck with the build and let's see the Dyno runs when you're thru. Enjoy! :2vrolijk_21: Hoist! 8)

This build is being done in BC hence my grand total in Canadian and U.S. dollars at current exchange rate  ;). I specifically asked about a larger TB and they said they actually have their best #'s with the stock one. :nixweiss: Of course first thing they will do is check the crank/pinion runout. They then proceeded to tongue lash my choice of pipes, Rinehart 2 into 2 flush. Had nothing good to say about them and talked about the torque dip they have down low, but good top end #'s. This build is in an FXDSE so maybe the Rineys won't hurt that much since its a little lighter than the baggers.

Who is doing the work?  JARZ Performance by any chance?

Yes sir, Lee Uhrich at JARZ. I must say that he has always made me feel comfortable on the phone during numerous calls and promptly answered all my emails and questions. Doing a fair amount of hand holding when I needed it. First class all the way. I know some other members here have had them do some builds with fine results. I couldn't think of a better guy to do my build and tune. I can't wait.

Keep us posted.  JARZ do really know their stuff and in speaking with Lee I agree, he's a good guy.  Geezerglide (Leo) had them get his bike fine tuned after numerous failed attempts elsewhere, I met him there and went to lunch.

I still need to get in and see them for a dyno but haven't found the time.  Love to see your post build info and dyno info.  Good Luck with the project. :2vrolijk_21:

Scagnetti,

This bike is already a 110" right?  If so, my questions would be the following.

1   Why buy compression releases when you have automatic ones built into the heads with the SERT that can be programmed to any map on the 110 engine with sert version 4.62?

2.  Did you/they consider going with new lifters?  SE or Jims

3.  Any consideration with the increase in compression to go with roller rockers?  SE

4.   What is the reason to go to gear drive over what it is currently in the bike since Woods makes the cam in both styles to fit the 110"?   This would save you the money of the gear drives as you already have all the components in the bike except for the cam swap.   curious on your/their reasoning on this one.

5.  What does the stage 2 kit include for 1100.00   Seems a bit steep since you only need the pistons / rings
they are already charging you gasket kits in your quote.   I would find out Exactly what is in the Stage2 kit because it is currently 800.00 over priced since all you needing is the pistons which can be bought separately.

I would add only one thing. The cam choosen will make some good power but ....... From our experiance and customer feed back they are a clattery cam. The couple we installed where with a trued crank, and we set up gear lash correctly. Still made noise, one customer has had us pull them as he cannot stand the noise.  The give and take policy would apply they make great power and pull very nice, but the ramp profile is where the noise is made on the closing of the valve.  So if you want a engine that has no cam clatter I would do more research, if cam noise is not a issue  I am sure you will like the cam.
