Clearview Shield
« on: June 18, 2007, 07:01:05 PM »

I'm getting ready to order a 14" Clearview Shield with the upper recurve for my 07 SE. I'm trying to decide on the 5 Position Adjustable Vent.  Has anyone on this board got one? Has anyone seen one? Anybody got any input on the vent. Do you think it takes away the Harley look? Etc. Any comment are welcome.

You asked for an opinion, so I'm going to give you mine...I think the vent on the windshield is better suited to a Gold Wing (not dissing Wing's, just don't think it looks right on a HD).  You can accomplish virturally the same thing with a pair of Dragon Wings or Freedom Wings to direct the air flow right where you need it to be on your body.  Just another was of doing the same thing and maintaining the "look".

I assume that you got some advice on the 14" shield.  I'm 6-1" with more torso than legs (32" inseam).  The 12" shield is just right for me to ride looking over the shield.  You may be 6'-4" or better, but otherwise I think you'll be looking through a 14" shield instead of over it.  That may be what you want.  Just my two cents.

I just upgraded to the corbin replacement seat.  I'm 6-3 with 34" inseam and the new saddle raised me up way over my 12".... serious helmet buffeting.

Clearview is sending me a new 14" with recurve so I can give all y'all some feed back on where it puts me in relation to the wind.

Get you an 18" front wheel and tire, and you'll be back to right again... ;) ;)

I suppose I need to get me one of those Clearview Shields.  There were plenty of times over the past week that I got bug splatters all over my helmet shield.  Wonder do they make one in stock height?

Henry,

They make them in a variety of sizes.  Just give them a call and tell them what you ride, your weight, height and if you do most of your riding two up, your passenger's weight.  They'll recommend the height of the shield, mine is perfect.

Clearview Shields are great.  I have two for my '06 SE Ultra.  A 12" clear with recurve and a 9.5" tinted with recurve.  Rarely use the 12" as the top of the shield is right in my line of sight.  The 9.5" is perfect.  I'm 5'10" with a 31" inseam so I'm longer in the body.

You don't want to be looking through the windshield if you ever ride in the rain. It gets dangereous quick.

I have the 9.5 with the recurve and at 6ft 2in, it's perfect for me.  Absolutely no helmet buffeting, and outstanding field of view over the top of the windshield.

I reckon I'll give these folks a call.  Would be nice to get it before I head back out to Kansas, but from what I've read here, that is highly unlikely.

Henry,
They have supposely increased production recently, so you may get it faster than some of us did.  Might be worth the call.
