Looking to buy a toy hauler
« on: June 19, 2007, 11:57:27 AM »

I want a toy hauler that my 07 traiblazer can haul. Does anyone know what I can tow comfortably with a SERK in the back. I have a 6 cyl. with the tow package. I saw a Fleetwood nitrous and a Side trak . Any help would be appreciated.Later,Q

Q,
I was just reading about these - ARC Trailers the other day in one of my biker mags. Here is one like I used to tow my bike to MV - excalibur type enclosed motorcycle trailer by magneta.

 Ok, gotcha. I know what you're talking about I've seen those before. When you mentioned the size of vehicle (engine) I was thinking something lightweight to put your bike in to haul. My bad.

Q,
With just a 6, you're probably going to only find haulers where the living quarters are taken up by the bike when it's inside.  I doubt you'd be able to safely pull anything much larger.  You may be better off with a simple bike trailer and motel it, until you're ready to upgrade your vehicle.  You have to get fairly large to have separate garage/living quarters.  We've been looking ourselves.

Q...about the smallest/lightest versions that are usable weigh close to 8500 lbs wet.  Most of the 5th wheel versions weigh in at 10K +.

Q,
You'll see each one of the Hobbi's has to park the bike outside to sleep.  The bed raises up to create your parking space.  I'm sure there is something out there, but I haven't personally seen a smaller trailer that gives you a garage, a eating area and a bed all at the same time.

An awning will accomplish that.  In fact, if you add zip-in side panels, you end up with a fully-enclosed garage.

Best bet would probably be a hybrid. Tent trailer with an exposed platform for loading the bike on I think Coleman makes one. Also there used to something made it was called a PakRat it had a canvas cover for the platform (bike hauling area. Very lightweight.
