That's the bugger there. It ain't much, but it sure is a noisy sucker. Great pics.

Thanks.  The service guy at my dealership took those.  Overall their work sucks, but apparently they are pretty good photographers.   :huepfenlol2:

Returned from dealer.  Rear head gasket changed, both rocker boxes clearanced, one was hitting.  I was also informed that both injectors were changed for some reason known to the tech. Itis wait and see if the head gasket oil was the cause of the oil under the starter.  I have doubts.  The oil is right around the VSS sensor on the tranny and downhill from there.  I would love to pull the starter to get a better look .  The dye did point to engine oil according to the tech.
Had the chrome rocker cover bolts installed.  Nice.

Thanks for the replies.

Thanks for the update. If you want to pull the starter, it is a simple task on the 07's as you no longer have to touch the primary.

Chrome starters look real nice back there, and they're so easy to install too.

Hi .... if I read it correct, sounds like your transmission is leaking where it bolts up againsd the engine. The sealer in the factory is badly applied.several of my ridingbuddys in eurpe have this problem. The sealer is not applied by hand no more, but by a Machine. This is according what the HD- importer for europe is saying. Maybe harley should fix this machine. The dealers should know this leaking problem! In europe it is coverd under warranty ,of course.I am surpriesd, not to read more ,in this forum, about this problem.        Ray

Sorry to confuse...
The oil is accumulating under the starter around the speed sensor, not forward of the chrome tranny cover near the motor.
My guess is the sensor or where the starter enters the primary.  Sounds erotic!

I know I saw a post last year shortly after the '07's came out about a leak at the VSS, just can't find it right now.  If you still have the leak, try the dye in the trans lube and see what you get.

If the dealer thinks they took care of the problem all they would need to do is remove the starter clean up under it really well and let you go enjoy the bike for a while and see if it returns if so, then they should be willing to give you some priority and resolve the issue ASAP.

We can all hope I guess can't we.

300 miles later and the oil is appearing under the starter.  It has to be from the starter O ring (primary oil) or VSS sensor O ring (tranny fluid).  The dealer should have replaced these while in the shop, but they blamed the head gasket.

I am attaching a picture showing the leak referenced by a nylon tyrap and the tranny fill plug.

If the case was porous, would it not have leaked before 4500 miles?

Howie, let's go into business.

I feel your pain se07! What the hell do you have to do to get a competent dealer? They don't touch my bike for 2 weeks. Rode a couple of hundred today. Now the rear head gasket is leaking like a mother! This chit just makes me sick! >:( Hoist! 8)
