Add a bottle of good white wine and you might not need a room! :2vrolijk_21:

Got me to thinking about making some shrimp grits myself now, after re-reading this.  Mmmmmmmmmmmm.....  Tony C's is good stuff.

Weekend was fun.  Spent Saturday morning at a board meeting for the local HOG Club and we are working on an event with Rolling Thunder for POW/MIAs coming up in Sept.  Very inspiring folks.  Words do not do this justice - just awe inspiring.  These men and women - what they gave for their country - choked me up.  Very humbling and makes one proud to be an American!

Mundane weekend chore - repaired the pool filter that was blasting sand into the bottom of the pool and stuck PVC together, which is about as exciting as slicing bread, but not quite.

Rode yesterday with friends and ended up at the lake for a few beers after a trip to the coast for lunch.  Saw another friend who has had several surgeries and he & Lisa & I got caught up.  Guy is riding again and we talked about a 'ride around Florida'.  Entire state perimeter over a few days - Pensacola to Key West.  Came home and finished the day floating in the pool with a cold refreshment watching a falcon floating in the sky hunting for a squirrel treat.

How was your weekend?

Thanks AJ.  Had the first ones/best in Charleston.

I also learned how to make Beaufort Stew quite a few years back in SC.  The folks here call it something different, but love it just the same.  Great stuff and fun!

Here in Beaufort we call it Frogmore Stew. Frogmore is a little shrimping community known as home of Penn Center. You may remember a childern's TV show called Gullah, Gullah Island? It was based on the Gullah Geechee culture found here on the Sea Islands.

Equal parts of: Shrimp, Kilbasa, corn, & potatos. Add in cut up onion & Old Bay and bring to a boil. This is what we have for a 'cook-out' as the Yankees call it. (Don't tell anyone I was born 'up there').

Let me know when y'all acomin'.

Frogmore!  Thats what the natives called it there as well.  Here in the Florida Panhandle its a Shrimp Boil, sometimes also called a Low Country Boil.  As far as I can tell, they are basically the same recipe. Most natives here also know it as Beaufort Stew.  Frogmore - brought back fond memories.

AJ - your recipe is mostly the same as the one I was given years ago.  Never fails to please.  The way I learned was to boil Old Bay in water until the onions (whole yellow onions peeled) begin to break up, then add potatoes & kielbasa, then corn, and last shrimp.  Careful not to let the shrimp get tough, cook always has some else taste one to be sure they are just right.

I rmember Gullah Gullah Island.  Don't get to SC often anymore - wife & I have been talking aobut a trip to Myrtle for Bikeweek and need to plan one.
