I need your help and support.
« on: June 27, 2007, 11:46:11 PM »

Hi All!

On Friday July 6th, I will be departing Century Harley Davidson (CHD) in Medina Ohio with a group of  Harley riders for the first annual "Iron Butt Ride for Cancer". We are going to ride 1,250 miles in 24 hours to raise money for cancer research and I need your support.

The ride will start at 5 PM and we will head up through Chicago and into Green Bay WI. for a short rest stop and a few hours of sleep. Up early on Saturday morning and through the upper peninsula of Michigan, over the Mackinaw bridge and head back to CHD in Medina for the culmination of the Handlebars and Hotrods all day car show and party. We hope to arrive back at CHD at 5 PM for the awards ceremony and party to follow. Please see the info below about the ride and car / bike show. MapQuest claims that the ride will be 1257 miles.

You can view all of the info at www.centuryHarleyDavidson.com if you would like.

Here is where you all come in! I need sponsors to donate $$$$$ for each and every mile I ride. All you have to do is send in a check and I will do all of the work. Come on now, we all know someone or a member of their family who has been affected by this terrible disease. Help find a cure for cancer and support my ride for cancer research!!!!! All proceeds will be donated to the Cleveland Clinic Taussig Cancer Center cms.clevelandclinic.org/cancer/ and we hope to raise over $10,000.00. for Cancer research.

If you would like to help in my quest, please send a check to Mrs. Pam Norton and mail it to the address below. Make the check to Cleveland Clinic Taussig Cancer Center and note that it is to sponsor Andy Fiffick / Iron Butt Ride. The donation is tax deductible, my buttocks and the families this money would help will  be eternally grateful.

For those of you who are mathematically challenged, here is a matrix for you:
05 cents per mile = $62.50
10 cents per mile = $125.00
25 cents per mile = $312.50
50 cents per mile = $625.00
$1.00 per mile = $1,250.00

Please give all you can / any amount you can, I will do the hard part.  Ask your employer to match the funds!! Thank you for your support in advance.

Hi all,

Just wanted to drop you a note and let you know that the ride was very successful and we covered 1,269 miles in 24 hours and forty minuets. With one very short rest stop for three hours of sleep (1 AM / 4 AM), we actually rode all the time and only stopped for fuel, restroom use, and quick food items. The sunrise over Lake Michigan was awesome, scenery was beautiful all across the Upper Peninsula and northern part of Michigan, and we got through Chicago traffic without a hitch. Breakfast / brunch on Saturday consisted of two beef smokies and an apple while riding. My bike has hundreds of splattered bugs on it, looks like I will be cleaning it on Sunday.

Thank you all for your support and donations, with your help I raised over $3,500 so far and the group of eight riders total is almost $14,000 for the Cleveland Clinic Taussig Cancer Center. Checks are still arriving daily; therefore, we don't have a grand total as of today.

Again, thank you for your well wishes and support.

Andy

PS: I know that you may not believe this; however, I am not sore or fatigued in any way (you know what part I’m talking about). The bike is very comfortable and fits me like a glove. After a long shower and a quick nap, I feel like a million bucks!  The oldest rider Rick Long,  has been riding Harley Davidson motorcycles since 1956, is 78 years young, and is a great rider.  :pineapple:
