Do you have the web site for horsepower inc. I typed horsepower inc in on the web and something weid came up. Or phone number.

I'm not sure how current they are. http://www.horsepowerinc.net/  Call Wes about the HPI Throttle Bodies. Joe has S&S 54 mm Throttle Bodies too. ;)

Kingdog,
Check out the throttle bodies here for Horsepower Inc.

http://www.horsepowerinc.net/products/big-bore-throttle-bodies/

Some things to note they did away with the 53mm replaced it with a 55 and they did away with the 56mm replaced it with a 58.

Harry and Hoist, you guys have been a great help. Thanks for everything and all the info. Now all that's left is to investiage the SS tuned runner intake ??. I think I am going with your recommendations on the 58mm TB from Horsepower Inc., look into the SS intake, and stay with everything else ( cams ) and go with Joe to tune it . Unless someone else comes up with a great tuner closer by. I'm sure with what's been done already and with these few tweeks I'm be up there with you guys before long. Not doing anything to it until after Thanksgiving though. BUT RIDE IT AND RIDE IT HARD ! Thanks again.

Good luck KD! I would think about the cams now too. Or you can try it w/just the TB change and retune. If you'tre still not happy, you'd have to retune again if you do change the cams. If Albany, NY is too far, try giving TMan a call. He's in NC and can probably do the whole job for you. Hoist! 8)

One more dumb question for you guys. Is't there a manifold that bolts to the heads that the throtle body bolts to? If so does this have to be changed out to match the TB? Or does the TB bolt directly to the heads? And Hoist is the tuned runner intake with the red air filters on them from S&S those funny looking twisted dual pipes that looks like it bolts to the TB? Is that the one your talking about? And how does that help? OK, six more questions. Just want to make sure I get it right. Or else how could I ever keep up! :confused5:

The manifold come w/the new TB! The S&S Tuned Runner is available w/red filters too, and bolts directly to the TB and Heads. Speak to WEs orwhoever you work with, and order everything from 1 person. Don't take responsibility for selecting your own components to save a few bucks. Make sure everything is correctly matched by your engine designer! He's the one predicting your performance. Work closely with him! ;) Hoist! 8)

TODAY'S UPDATE: (It's almost over) ;D

The bike is sitting with no TB on it right now, awaiting the arrival of the 62 mm HPI TB tomorrow! This is the last test we'll be doing. The bike is tuned with the 58 mm, and runs best that way so far. We're testing the 62 mm to see if any more improvement is achievable. Whichever works best will remain on the bike. If it's really close either way, I'd probably keep the larger one. You never know what the future brings. A man can never have enough HP! ::) There might be a hitch with the 62. Fit might be one issue. It's supposed to. We'll see about that. Second might be the S&S Tuned Runner. It might not fit the 62. They can't say. They haven't tried it. We'll see how that goes too! I prefer to keep it. I've really grown to like it a lot! I'll be heading up to get it on Sat. morning and probably spend the rest of the weekend up there. Final report and numbers should come at the end of the weekend. I'll be doing a full report on the entire bike at the end of the month, when everything's completed. Full description, Pics, and Dyno Charts. Stay tuned for that thread. And be warned in advance, it'll be in the SERK Section! You'll have to venture into there to catch that spread! ;D

Howie,

You have shared the status of your build and some of its details in :huepfenlol2: this post and then on the eve of your final report your going to move it to a bike specific section.   What kind of CHIT is that.   We have all endured the up's / downs and tribulations with you right here, post the dang summary here for all to find easily versus starting another thread on the subject.

Now, now children, nobody's quitting on you. My plans were to do a complete report on the transformation of the stock SERK into the Hoist '07A FLHRSE3TQ Model! Not just the engine mods. So it's appropriate that the report on the best SERK ever, appears in the SERK Section. The Dyno sheets also belong in the SERK Section's Dyno Reports. The Pics will probably go in the Pics Section. I'll support my report w/a few pics too. But we gotta put this stuff in the right places. Just ask any Mod! ::) ;D  Hoist! 8)

Mods,

Could you please move this thread to the appropriate section for us.  BTW where is the whining and drama section anyhow?  Oh wait he wants this in the Roadking Section.

TODAYS UPDATE:

Well today was the day of final testing. Or so I thought. The 62 mm HPI TB showed up today and we got it on the bike. It doesn't allow fitment of the S&S Tuned Runner or other traditional backplates. It came with it's own backplate and filter. Does that mean I'll have to give up the S&S Tuned Runner or the S&S Teardrop? :nixweiss: So we tested with the 62 mm. Uh oh! It got better! The friggin' thing tested great! It pulled the TQ up to max at 1700 and went pretty much straight across. There was a slight dip around 2800-3200, but not bad at all. And the line was smooth! Overall peak numbers were about the same as before, 120 HP/130 TQ. But the rideability down low was so much better. And it pulls past 6 Grand now before dropping, instead of at 5800 before. He said it pulls right thru the RPM's fantastic and doesn't bog at 1500, which he thought it might with that large a TB. It needed the larger injectors too. The 4.89's are cycling in the 40%-50% range now. They were too big in the 58 mm. The engine runs even cooler with the gobs of flow going thru it now. The 62 is staying! Who would have believed it! :2vrolijk_21:

Well, that should have been the end, and Joe should have proceeded to final tuning. But this guy's great! He still isn't satisfied. He's going to jury rig the S&S Tuned Runner in the morning and retune and retest it. He expects the Tuned Runner to pick up the dip, and raise the overall numbers 4 HP and 4-6 Ft-Lbs TQ. If it turns out as he expects, I'll be leaving the bike there so he can fabricate an adapter to be properly to mount the Tuned Runner. Then he'll final tune it next week. A little disappointing if I don't pick it up tomorrow, but a few more days to get it perfect is fine by me! I'll take the Amtrak up during the week to get it. I'm hoping the Tuned Runner tests good again. I've grown to really love that thing! ;)

This whole process has been really exciting! We learned a lot by testing these various things, and proved scientifically what worked well and what didn't. I hope ya'll got something out of all these tests too, and that it helps your future builds. I'll let ya'll know tomorrow if I'm picking it up, or I have to wait til next week, for the last step (engine wise! ::) ) on my perfect running SERK!

Howie,

Your ass will never notice the difference if there even ends up being one , put the 62 and its air cleaner and save the 750 bucks on the S&S and move on and get your bike :)   Won't have to worry about parts falling off cause they weren't made for the application.

Besides it's not like Chip gonna race ya in HS anyhow so nothing to worry about there cause he will be on the classics.   Maybe Vgirl will whip your a$$ though, she has been practicing on the dyno drags ya know.

Harry, Joe tells me I'll definitely feel the difference in the way the bike rides with the 62! So it's staying! And if the Tuned Runner does what he thinks, that's staying too! I'll wait a few more days. That thing is gonna end up how I like it after all this. And I like that Tuned Runner! ;)
