Yes Hoist the E3 Radial is junk! Wifes has 9800 miles really dished out on each side. Harley changed the replacement to D407. It is stock on the 08 RK and Springer but back ordered till Aug 20th. Had to put another E3 to get going on our trip. Trying to get warranty on the tire. I had to have tire shipped from another dealer.

9800 miles on a rear tire?  That's above average mileage on a rear tire...the dishing is another matter, but major causes are underinflation and poor shock absorption.

9800 miles is great! I'll take that in a flash. I never got better than 10,000 out of anything, and a CVO with more power will not last as long as a stock bike. There are no options to replace the rear tire without doing both together. I called 6 dealers and finally found a rear E3 Radial. I'm going to get it changed today. I'll worry about changing both after this rear burns out again. I'm just glad I found one! :2vrolijk_21:

Wow! I've gotten more than 7500 hunnert or so outta my rear tires...ever. I suppose gracity and friction have something to do with it.

Howie, nice dyno numbers, the TQ looks great! I like that you did this with under 10:1 CR, more reliable, less heat, no pinging! I have a few questions.

1) are you going to list your final componets?

2) Did you go with Cycle-Rama cams and heads? They make some nice stuff.

3) I saw you checked the runout, did you go with gear drive?

4) When is the garage sale for all the extra parts you have????   :nixweiss:

Chip, Chip, Chip! It's 30 ponies but that has nothing to do with it. It's how quick the power comes on now. Don't be coy my friend. You know how much your 120 overpowers that Softail Frame. Geez, you can't even ride the bike at speed. You gotta keep the small engine sprocket in there so it don't go too fast for the frame. But now you can't take it on trips (except on a trailer). At least that's what Hubbard says about it! ::) And don't worry about me. I'm twisting it wide open anyway, and have a permanent SEG on my face now! Now see if you can manage to get that thing to HS. Since you'll have a trailer, bring your electric impact wrench. I'll need to do a gear change in the pits before going against that Frontier! ;)

Realize you guys banter is all in good humor, but Hoist stated it to the point "It's how quick the power comes on now."  The majority of folks on just about every board is concerned with HP or max numbers.  When really it's all about when the TQ comes on, the sooner the better.  I'd enjoy reaching 120 ft lbs TQ at 2500 and then have it climb and continue out past 5000 rpm, then to bragg I have 118 HP at 6200 rpm.

I'm glad people do realize our banter is in good humor.
You are right about the torque!
The more, the lower, the better.
That's why the Frontier is such a kick in the ass putting around.
130 at 2500 and 140 at 3000. I call it "twist and go"
And I don't know where Hubbard pulled that low gear chit from but the gearing is stock.
It just has torque!
Ck out the chart below.

And Talon.
Your right about the wheelie bars for Hoist.
With a sticky tire he will be scraping that bald head!
Or buying a belt.

Howie,
Glad to hear you got your ride back and are happy with the build. At least that's what I got from the post!  :pineapple: :pepper: :carrot: :apple: :jalapeno:

Like to see the dyno #'s after the next tune, and he has more time to get the AFR nailed in to get rid of the decel popping, etc.

Ride on bro!

That was 9800 on the front. Most 402's I get over 20,000  miles. Usually 2 rears to one front. But not the E3 front tire. She did get over 9,000 on the stock rear D407.

Hey Talon.

1. Yes
2. Yes and Yes
3. No
4. After the w.....ty expires ;)

I'm doing a full report by the end of the month. When everything else is done. I'll do a complete report w/ pics and Dyno charts. Wes nailed the combo. The numbers were exactly as he predicted. He fell about 4 ft-lbs short, but it's going back on the dyno for some tweaking. Might see the 130. But my ass tells me it don't matter one bit! ;D

Here's a tough question.
Can you price out all this work you have had done?
The front end, the shocks, the chrome, the motorwork, etc.
That would be an interesting #!

And if you need to keep it hush hush could you pm the info to those that want to know what it takes to get a R/K to where it's right.

Get used to it! I just got back from riding. I had the new tire mounted today. Friggin' 350 Bucks! 1.5 hrs labor @ $98/hr they charged to mount a tire. $168 for the tire, and $147. Wheel weights and tax, $351.68 total. I almost chit! ;DMy dealer doidn't have one. I called 6 dealers to get one. This is the last one I usually try. They're in the upscale neighborhood and everything's expensive in that store. They even sell Thunder Mountain's there. But I got my new tire now. Let's see how fast I burn this one up with this motor now! The PM there recommended the ME880's. They come in SERK3 sizes.
