2006 SEUC Oil Pressure
« on: July 03, 2007, 03:23:38 AM »

Since my POS has been in the shop more than I have been riding it I seem to have lost track of where the idle oil pressure is when at operating temp on a warm day of freeway riding.

Anyone that could enlighten me I would appreciate it.  I searched the threads and found some info but not much on idle pressure, so if you have that number it would be helpful.

I am running the Mob 1 V Twin, so I think most of the synthetics would be close enough at idle for my needs.  I'm around 10 or so.

Rog,

Mine was down near zero when idling hot before going with the Feuling pump.  It was pretty unnerving to see it that low.

Mine was at around 5 psi at idle and now that I have a feuling oil pump its about 17 psi. I thought that was low also (17 psi) until I talked to Luke at feuling and he said that the oil pressure gauges on our bikes are notorious for inaccurate readings.

Mine is like HDguy's-5 psi before Feuling, 17 with Feuling.  On 06's and earlier, if the needle moves at all at idle is considered ok..

Hey guys, that's what I was wondering.  I'll keep an eye on it but it appears that I am at least normal.  Thanks for the replies.

At this point I still have Hoist's old warranty so we'll see how things go.  At least I made it home without blowing any fuses last night after picking it up from the electrical repairs.

At least I have both bikes back and rode the SEUC home last night 65 miles without incident.  I will ride to work today and home again tonight and then as much as possible the next week before we head east to the damn dam party. :2vrolijk_21:

I think you're good to go, Roger.  Mine hovers around 10psi at idle as well.  Have fun on the trip.  It is good to hear you got your gremlins removed. :2vrolijk_21:

These beasts really don't need a lot of oil pressure according to several techs I have confidence in.  Bigger problem is getting oil back where it belongs vs puking out the a/c.

I know that especially with the synthetics the pressure doesn't need to be particularly high at idle, the Porsches do run at 0 although the are dry sumped and get to pressure quickly when the revs come up.

It will be interesting to see how the Mob 1 performs at heat and altitude of Nelson.  The Syn 3 sucked in Colorado, and although we don't get to those altitudes in Nelson, it should be warm up there.

Like this 100° F | 69° F /38° C | 21° C, for Thursday the 5th and it isn't even mid July yet.  That'll test the oil.

Well Roger, any problems today?

Nope, thanks for asking, went for a short ride as I decided to hang around the house and wash the boat, the jet skis an go get my carry permit renewed, as well as got new tabs for the boat and jet skis.  Figured I may as well have them legal for the fourth.

Great day and all was well on my short ride.

Rog, like the other guys here, Glad to here the scoot is running good for you and in
time for the trip.
My 07 SE Ultra runs near Zero too at idle and I am running the K&N Oil Filter with
Royal Purple in the belly.  Bike runs MUCHO cooler now with the Royal Purple, but the
idle pressure is the same as when it came with the Syn3.
Have Fun,
