another performance option-- the race fueler
« on: January 16, 2005, 11:18:24 AM »

has anyone heard of or used the "race fueler" by dobeck performance, www.techlusion.com ?

apparenly they take out the old chip, in with the new, and tune it much like a power commander, without dynoing. the cost is $269 plus $150 labor. the guys pushing this thing are putting it on every se fat boy that goes out the door. they say the torque and hp are increased along with the popping on gear shifts.

could this be a cheaper alternative to the "race tuner" and 4 hours of mandatory dynoing at a cost of $1000 plus?

my harley service guy says they just put one of these things into a guys 103 and it required a lot of tweeking and after-tweeking to get the right results, but the guys putting them into their se fat boys on a regular basis say thy are great.

i can't believe a dealer would routinely put these into their se's if they were labor intensive for their customers. or would they!

would appreciate your thoughts on this,   scre [smiley=laugh.gif]

Purchasing any of these things will involve a possible increase in performance.   Usually to understand what increases or decreases in realized performance, a dyno run is necessary.  Tweaking is best accomplished with the data that the dyno can provide.  What you are asking for is a guesstimate that may or may not accomplish what you are looking for.  Many things at various prices can accomplish horsepower and torque improvements.  Any one thing may or may not be your panacea.  Decide a specific amount of money that you are willing to spend.  Decide what you care about your warranty.  Decide if you will stop with the money at that point if this is to be an ongoing process.  Get it done and ride and enjoy it.  Pursuing a world beater for a daily driver is out of the question.  Pursuing the one in a billion chance that putting anyone thing on your bike to make it significantly better has the same odds.
