I was thinking about going with the 251 as my bike just went back to the dealer for the head gaskets.
That cam kit was on Backorder and I was just happy to get my bike back in for both new headgaskets.
Sounds like it would be a good set-up for the 110s!!!!

In my research, before going in a different direction, it was going to be my cam choice. It should spruce up the entire RPM range. But don't expect night and day. It doesn't out perform the 255 by very much on numbers, but it just livens up the whole throttle band and makes the bike more rideable. I'd do it with the 50mm TB also. ;) Hoist! 8)

I'm running 251 cams in a 103" road king with 10.5 compression.  It pulls pretty good, but sometimes I wish I'd used a shorter cam.  The cams don't really hit until 3000rpm.  I really think in a 110" with 9.3 compression that the 251's would feel weak at low rpm.  The beauty of the stock 110 is that it has gobs of torque right off idle.  Do you really want to trade that for more horsepower at high rpm?  Of course if you're willing to have the heads reworked to increase compression, then a long cam like 251 would really come alive!

Can't say right now KD. Doing a little research and testing. We'll see how it all works out. ;) Hoist! 8)

I'd talked to Mike at Latus HD about the 251's for my 103" and he said despite the reputation he felt it pulled better across the band than the 255 from the work they had done. I have the 255's for now and they are OK , not as strong down low as the TW31G's I had in my WG3 but very smooth.

I agree with skyhook, a little more compression is needed to really take advantage of the 251 cams, head work wouldn't hurt either.  Cams with .50 of lift or under and under 250 duration are considered bolt in, not other work required to take advantage of the cams, over .50 lift and 250 duration usually need compression and head work to take full advantage of the cams. Below is a thread at Latus on the 211, 251,and 257 cams. There are a lot of dyno charts at this site too, might help you.

Mike Stegman is tuning my bike today, hopefully to pick it up thursday eve if all goes well it has been there since the first week in June. Was 3 to 4 weeks just waiting for the heads to come back from Baisley. Compression will be 10-5, domed pistons, 50mm throttle body, SE 251 cams. I'm anxious to ride and of course NELSON.......

Good luck Rooster! I hope you get what you're expecting with your new top end. I'd be interested in how you did and your Dyno sheet, since I'm doing my top end work too right now. Enjoy your new "Rocket"! ;) Hoist! 8)

Rooster,

I'm really interested in your results, esp. with the resultant temps with the bumped up compression. Can you refresh my memory which tuning device you are using? SERT / PC / TMAT?

Thanks Hoist, after this much time I am excited just to ride again. I don't have a scanner but the dyno sheet will be on Latus Motors site. Usually under last name(Gaddis)

Chief, I have SERT. The 84 map was first then I changed the closed loop bias tables up to 798. Richened up slightly, I could tell the difference riding, still ran to hot. I hope I have a big smile on my face while riding back home I'll post results. Also had some decel popping from the initial 84 map, hoping the tune takes care of that.

Thanks Rooster. Good luck with it, and please report back on any changes in the heat issue.
