Just got a chance to look for the new stuff.  Saw those tires.  I've got a new E-III waiting for me in Kalispell, MT that I'll have to have shipped home.  Whenever it gets used up it'll be time for a new front and rear.  So will gave the radials a try whenever that is.  Might be a long time from now.  But it's nice to have the option.

The new Michelin's are not radials.  If you read the last paragraph in Nidan's link, it says "they handle like radials"..  Nothing in Harley's part# for the new tires says they are a radial.  tread pattern doesn't look much different than the 402.

yep,  it will be a while before I need new tires , but I may give them a try ,  I've had 3 sets of Metzelers and 2 sets of Avons... both were better than the Dunlops

The new Michelin's are not radials.  If you read the last paragraph in Nidan's link, it says "they handle like radials"..  Nothing in Harley's part# for the new tires says they are a radial.  tread pattern doesn't look much different than the 402.   

Boatman's correct.  Believe the "B" in the size denotes bias ply and that if they were radials, there would be an "R" there instead.

So, has anyone tried the new Michelin's yet?   I have an appointment next Wednesday to get a new rear tire for the Hot Springs trip and told them to slap one of the new 43284-07 Michelin MU85B16 blackwalls on since they have a couple in stock.  Now thinking about replacing the front one, too, with a 43303-07 MT90B16 since it is "only" another $123 + installation for it.  Although the OEM Dunlop up front only has about 4,000 miles on it, I hate the idea of a mis-matched set of tires.

I am replacing the tires on the SEEG Sat morning.  Going with the Metz's.
They are proven, the Mich's are not.  The Metz may be cheaper too....$114 for the front and $140 for the rear plus $65 for the install.

The michelin tire is a proven tire has been out for years,  the metzler on the other hand has gotten some bad press lately with it's tires coming apart.  I have experenced 2 metzler coming apart, and have had several friend had the same issues.  Last weekend at the shop the part manager said they still cann't order a metzler.  Every thing is on back order till investigate the issue with the tires.  I have had great luck with the new Dunlop Elite 3 tires.

I don't know anyone with Mich's on their baggers so that is what I meant about unproven.  I know lots of folks with the Metz's and Avon's.  Haven't heard the problem you have encountered but perhaps more people will weigh in.  I have had Dunlop's on all 9 of my HD's and never had a problem either.  I just wanted to try the Metz's based on recommendations from people on this site. Ken's MC tires (where I am having mine replaced) is still ordering Metz's with no problems as of yesterday.

I've got between 4-5K on my Metz's and have had no issues...in fact, would not think about any other tire at this point.  Michelins have traditionally been excellent tires for cars, but I have no idea about their bike tires.  Metz tires do require more pressure, so it makes me wonder about those having problems.  Are they running the owner's manual recommended air pressure?  If so, more friction = more heat.  The Metz's like 44 psi on front and 50 on back, if loaded.  Drop 2psi if not loaded.
