Rhino,
My bike is a 04 SEEG with the muscle 113 kit. It has the Thundermax W/ AT. It also has the Timken bearing and oil bypass shim. My dealer removed the engine and sent it to Zippers for all of the machine work. Zippers then sent all the parts and pieces back to the dealer for reinstall. It also has a VP clutch (parts list says VP008) and a Baker overdrive 6 speed. The parts list also says Jim's lifters. As far as the throttle body this is one of the things Zippers was supposed to check on at Sturgis and call me back so since I did not get the call back I am not sure which it has. Looking through my paperwork from the build, there is a handwritten note  on one of the pieces of paper that says 50 mm throttle body, so I am assuming that is probably what I have, but not sure. My problems were low numbers on the dyno, for this build, but I have not had it back on the dyno since Sturgis to see where I am since Zippers made their changes out there. I am having the pinging at Interstate speeds under light throttle. This is all I can tell you about it right now, but if there is something else you need to know let me know and I will try to find the answer.

I also have Reinhart duals on it. I was going to buy a Boarzilla from Zippers at Sturgis and ship my pipes home, but the guy doing the programming at Sturgis did not seem to think the pipes were the problem causing my low numbers. He also agreed the numbers seemed low. Last dyno was 111 HP and 121 Tq.

Yes, that part is clear, but I thought he said adjust the lifters.  The pushrods are adjustable to work with the lifters, hydraulics keep the lifters working as a .... oh never mind......

Rhino,

Perhaps RDJ Roadking has adjustable length pushrods???  :nixweiss:

Who was that guy?  Is the pinging only in 6th gear?  LGive me the scenario, like 2000 rpm in 6th it pings?  2900 in 6th it pings?  Tell me where it pings.  If you are lugging a little bit, and stopped for fuel in the midwest, and inadvertantly got some ethanol, it may ping with a headwind.  Let me know the specifica and I can help.  Perhaps Zippers tuned it for peake performance which means all parameters must be right to get the HP, but off a little, the AT working as well as it does, may be telling it to be a smidgen to lean.  Anyway, pleas repsond to the above, thanks,

Rhino,
It is pinging in 6th gear around 2800 - 3000 RPM under light acceleration. When I said that guy, I meant the guy from Zippers that was doing all the tuning in Sturgis, sorry don't know his name. I live in the midwest and dont know of any gas stations that sell gas without ethanol around here anymore.

I have a feeling that this is a temporary scenario.  I would search out a Sunoco, perhaps no ethanol and run a tank. I also see the temps have been quite warm that way also.  However, IF you are familiar, or have read the manual it is easy - I would make a simple timing change between 2600-3000 rpm by only 2 points retard  (down), it will work miracles to offset the local crappy fuels.

Brad, there is a Phillips 66 on Springfield Road in East Peoria, just down from the UAW hall that sells 93 without alcohol.  You can give it a try, but I seriously doubt it will make a difference in the pinging.  Might get better gas mileage, though.  Try it and let us know.

I try for the easy first, if that does nothing, then a timing change is next, but a very small one.  On the new software, for end user, you go to the timing tree on the left.  Link the module, read the map. Leave it linked, motor is off of course, and make a live change, which means that you do not need to initialize again.  But, after this change, save the map as something OTHER than the base map, by changing ONLY the last 6 digits, to the date is good.

Now to make the change, I am going to assume that cruising is ok, but under acceleration is what is bothering you with a ping. So, select Timing on the tree, then go all the way to the bottom of this tree.  We are going to make a slight change all the way across the board at those suspect rpms.
Notice there is a chart rear vs tps, and the next one is timing vs engine speed. This is the one we want.

Open it up. (you are still liinked at this point BTW)  look at the boxes.  Select one around around 2645 or so. Now, hit space bar. This will show you the RPM you are actually at.   So, to retard the timing, we are going to take the range as shown, and retard it a touch. go down, and smooth the line off.  Since you were linked, the module takes it live. So all you need to do now is save the map youjust made, as above. Jur done.

Hope this helps

Rhino

BTW, this was a sample map, yours may look different. If you want ot ge the last tiny correction, you can actully go to hightr in that tree and mess with each band, BUT, they are best left to more experienced.

I added you to the list on the first page, did you have your bike pro-tuned, or just install a map and go? Also, how close to stock is your bike?
