blue pushrod....
« on: July 12, 2007, 11:15:11 PM »

So, I pulled the front rocker box to check for rocker box - valve spring retainer interference - which I found and corrected by grinding clearance on the side wall of the rocker box.

What I did not expect to find - and am not sure what to make of - is the front pushrod is a dark color - almost blue (heat like color) in color.  The rear pushrod looked as I would expect it to.  Attached are a couple of pictures.  Both pushrods had oil flow thru them and I saw nothing I would expect to cause heat.  Any thoughts?

Clean is intake.... Hence the shiny one

Dirty is exhaust.... Hence the dark one

It is in the service manual.....
