So we should know what the scoop is on Monday, or will it be later in the week? [smiley=nixweiss.gif]

In the past few years the web site wasn't updated until after midnight on the day of the dealer meeting. So you might want to wait till then to take a look or early Sunday morning. Back in '03 I was wanting to take a look at the Black & Silver RKC. I watched the HD web site like a hawk and it didn't change till sometime after midnight.

Our dealer has had the 06 color chart in hand for a few weeks, but hasn't revealed what colors will be on any CVO bikes and doesn't know yet what they will be except for the FB and VRod. They find that our on Saturday. They're never told of anything new until that meeting. Also from what they have told us they are not allowed to take camera's or cell phones into this meeting. Everything is kept hush hush until the meeting is over. So now we wait another few days to see for sure what 06 will bring.  [smiley=thumbsup.gif]  Sandy

Starting to get a little bit nervous that they might put one of thse VRSC motors in the CVO RG for '06.  Notice I am making an assumption on what bike it will be.

Anyone else think this might be the year for a water cooled touring bike from HD.  I know those motors make great power but not sure I would like such a high revving motor in a touring bike.

What do you folks think?  Would that be something you would want?

My guess is just as I sit and think I would rather have the air cooled TC motor in a larger displacement there will be others that say this is exactly something they are waiting for.  I would be interested to hear from those folks exactly why they think that would be a good thing.

It'll be interesting to see what comes down the pike.

For whatever it's worth (I wouldn't try to take it to the bank) in Aug. 01, during the Sturgis Rally, Willie G. was up on the stage (At the Auditorium in Rapid City) unveiling the V-Rod that he was so proud of.  There came a question and answer period.  One of the questions was would that motor ever be offered in the current platform.  He went into great length to explain that current platform will always be what it is........it's what made HD what it is.........that these new liquid cooled motors are a cousin to the current platform and that the liquid cooled motors will have a family all their own and the two will never cross each other's paths in interchangability.

Having said that (and heard it with my own ears.....I was releived at the time) I'd not be surprised if they do offer a liquid cooled motor in the current platform.

The idea of a liquid cooled touring bike came up some months ago and gathered a fair amount of discussion whatever thread it was in back then.  Was certainly enough to make a guy think about it.

Basically what it came down to me for me was if it's

A: Reliable
B: Good looking

and

C: Good feeling (i.e., the RPM doesn't make the bike "feel" bad on long days in the saddle)

then I'd be all for it.  Certainly for at least giving it a try.  Really think about it for a second; if it feels good all day long and looks good in the process and puts that amount of overall performance and snap in a dresser than what in the hell isn't to like ?  [smiley=nixweiss.gif] [smiley=huepfenjump3.gif]

I would like to see a liquid cooled motor in a touring bike for sure! To make reliable maximum EPA power, you must get rid of the heat, and maintain consistant temps for the inevitable engine managment systems required and catylists. Just look at Porsche, they took air/fan cooled motors as far as they could go and went liquid several years ago. the result was major power increases across the board. Of course, with this concept comes more complexity and potential for problems that no one but the dealer can repair. If we do see a CVO Road-Glide or Ultra with a liquid cooled option, I think maybe I'm just dumb enough to be a guinie pig for the MOCO and buy one. However, I will keep my '04 SEEG if only because I'm a toy glutton. Remember, be careful out there.

Hey Roadglider,

I spent the other morning over at Jim's Harley in St. Pete, FL, getting the first 500 mile oil change on my 05 FLHTCUI, and there happened to be a very knowledgeable old fellow there with some "source" information on the situation. According to him, yes, there actually will be a liquid-cooled engine, as an "option;" and he said he had heard that the touring CVO will be an Ultra and not a Glide. He also was happy to say that dealers will have a better go of it starting this year with options of choice among the CVO products they may prefer to have. We must have talked over coffee for a couple hours, and he had alot to say about the product lines and their development over the last five years. So, if it's going to be Road Glide or an Ultra I'm not sure, but the grand old fellow I had the good pleasure to talk to really got me feeling pretty sure that this liquid-cooled "option" likely will be available. Personally, I welcome it big time and plan to trade for whichever CVO touring bike it actually turns out to be. By the way, he didn't have any clue as to what the CVO colors may be. Anyway, this is a little bit of fresh news, maybe.

Ride it like a god,

Axe, thanks for the input.  I have too heard the speculation about the touring bike being an Ultra and frankly that is probably a safer bet than it being a RG.  On the issue of the motor interesting the idea of it being available as an option, never considered they would approach it in that way.  Guess that would be the safe route, give everyone the power plant of choice.  From a cost standpoint not sure it would make alot of sense because I thinki the powerplants would not be totally swappable with out other major modificatins to the frame configuration.  PS I like your byline "Ride it like a God".  Great sentiment.

Anyway appreciate the input of all of you and all of the comments here.

JCZ, thanks for sharing that personal experience on hearing the word from Willie G.  There certianlly has been alot of things happen since August of '01 so maybe his viewpoint would have changed by now on it if asked now.

Anyway soon we shall know.  Looking forward to checking online this weekend to see what got announced.

I got some info last night and had to make a promise not to reveal the source. I will have the info on the CVO's tomorrow around 2 to 230 PM eastern standard time. This person did say a whole new  redesigned Dyna platform will be out as will a fat tire chopper style bike. They did not know what platform the chopper would be built on.

Now getting to the CVO'S he did say the MOCO was very tight lipped on this subject. He thinks a Road Glide or another Electra Glide. He said he knew about the 2 year thing but also stated the SEEG was one of the hottest bikes Harley has had for a while. He also said the teal color was the most sought after because of the low production numbers.   As soon as I get the call (I'll be at the firehouse) I will get right on here and let everyone know.

Be Safe

i dont doubt that there will be a tour-rod in the future maybe even this year, but it would have to be build around the existing V-rod platform. that motor would never drop into an FLH frame

Give a frame and a motor to the Teutels and let Mikey build it.

Naitram, maybe we just need to watch here for what the latest developments are. [smiley=nixweiss.gif] Last year, it seemed like you were here updating the website for the new models practically in real time, pictures and all.  [smiley=thumbsup.gif]
