As far as I'm concerned, Harley's running out of ideas and they're starting to bore me. They have waaaayyyy too many models, many overlapping each other in design.

My suggestion...cut back on the number of models and add more goodies to each so a stock bike's not such a "money-pit". Focus on innovation and quality at less cost to the consumer wouldn't be such a bad thing for a change, either. [smiley=confused5.gif]

I'm guessing they came up with the "leather tour pack" to try and create a new look.......so no one would be saying or notice its really a SEEG3 with different paint, radio etc..... [smiley=shocked2.gif]

Never under estimate the marketing genius's at the MOCO.............they would never even consider repackaging old goods and spinning it off as something new and exciting..... [smiley=confused5.gif]

Would they...... [smiley=greedy.gif]

For the buyers adding optional choices as part of the OE purchase or simply making more of the common things part of the stock bike is a great idea.  It hurts the dealerships though.  Understand I'm not commiserating with them.  Just saying that they are (too) used to padding the margins on a bike sale by also adding parts and labor for accessorizing along with that sale.  It's an important part of the model they work under.

Are they one and the same that brought Elton John to the 100th? [smiley=nixweiss.gif]  After that little fiasco.......I'll never under estimate them.......not saying that's [smiley=nervous.gif] a good thing either.

JCZ,

Yep, that's the same genius mentality that links Elton John with Biker's. Scary thought indeed! [smiley=nervous.gif]

I guess they are more inspired by measuring up to  their Corporate ideals as opposed to actually reacting to the desire's  and needs of their loyal customer base............... [smiley=nixweiss.gif]

I agree with you on that. My husband and I saw a comercial last night on a Honda (I think) where they are offering 4 different paint sets with a choice of several different exhaust and several other options for the same bike at the same price. That way not every one goes out the door with the same clone bike and trying to decide what they could then do to it to make theirs different from all the others on the road. Like you, I beleive HD should do something like this. Offer less bikes in a family but give their customers lots of different options to get on it at a decent price. Bet they would sell even more bikes if they tried that. Sandy
