Computer Dudes, I Need Help!

I picked up the Brochures yesterday for the 4 '08 CVO's. I'm trying to scan them, but they come out as a .bmp file. How do I scan them to get them into a format and size that I can post for you guys? Thanks. Hoist! 8)

Geek to the rescue. Can you 'scan to an application', like MS Paint? If so, then you can save the picture there as .jpg

Hey Chuck. I scanned it to paint, but it saved it as a .bmp file. How do change it to a .jpg file? Hoist! 8)

You are so hosed.  Once a BMP always a BMP.  In fact now EVERY thing you ever save will be a BMP file.  BMP files also don't start after a top end rebuild.  You are so hosed.


Howie, if you're scanning application doesn't give a "Save As" option where you can choose JPG there's still an easy solution.  Do a net search for "IrfanView."  It's a little graphics editor/viewer program that is also the best conversion utility I've ever run across.

Install that program.  Open about any type of graphics file.  Resave it as about any other type of graphics file.

I must be a computer dope. When you said that, I checked, and noticed a dropdown menu for file types. Let's see if it works. If it does, I'll scan the to the "General CVO" Board. hoist!

Hey Hoist. A program called Graphics Gale is the best for resizing and changing or editing photos for the less computer literate people. It is also great for pros. It will also let you convert from .bmp to .gif or .jpg without a problem.
