BS! We're taliking about motorcycles here! Not cars. We've decided as a society that everyone pretty much needs a car to get around these days. So we figured out a way to let any moron get one. Whether they deserve to be on the road or not! And we build safety controls in so that moron doesn't kill himself or others, as you said. Motorcycles are different. They also require a separate licence and have their own requirements to be able to ride them. Why would we soften requirements for competent riding, by making the bikes idiot proof! Idiots shouldn't be on them! Why not let every moron get behind the wheel of a tractor-trailer too! You can sugar coat this any way you want. But you'll never get me to agree that motorcycles should be idiot-proof so your everyday moron can ride one too!

The problem is, even though it's a motorcycle, any moron with enough cash, or credit, can buy one, just like a car. The lawyers out there are just dying to get a "stupidity" case that they can ream a manufacturer for and make lots of money. (e.g., suing and winning for dumping hot coffee in your lap saying that the restaurant didn't properly label the coffee cup).  It's not the moron drivers out there that the manufacturer is protecting or trying to make idiot-proof for, it's themselves from the personal injury lawyers out there that are just salivating out there for the big buck case.   You can argue about it all night, but you aren't going to change it.  Our legal system has to change first to like it was back when we were kids, when if you got hurt because of your own stupidity, you went to the doctor and healed up...you didn't rush right out and try and sue your neighbor because they had and "unsafe tree" in their yard and it made play tarzan and caused you fall out of it and break your arm.     Okay, I'm done...

Your absolutely right about that Charlie. It's a different world today. And I know I can't change it either. I was hoping I'd never see the day when our previously hated-by-most-lifestyle became so trendy that we need to be regulated too. It just kinds sucks is all! Before they all used to hate us. I hear ya bro.  The one good thing out of all of this is they can't make me stop loving to ride my scoot.  It's too deep in my blood.

So the days of seeing some RUB attempting to "warm up" his bike --  but not realizing its in gear, and having it lauch into the front wall of TGIF and crash -- are over?  That sucks.

Now, what they really need are like little electrically-actuated outriggers that pop out to stabilize you if you exceed a certain lean angle.  The new kickstand technology should make that easy. 

Oh, and radar sensors that apply the brakes if you get too close to a car. 

And airbags.

You and me both, Bro.  Now that I've finally got all the kinks worked out..........a year later............I can honestly say I've learned my lesson about buying new Harley-Davidson motorcycles.  DON'T!!  It leads to peptic ulcers.  But now that it is "right," it is doubtful I'll part with it.

Electronically interlocked Jiffy Stand! You gotta be kidding. The bikes should be made for people that know what the hell they're doing! That's the biggest bunch of BS I've ever heard! Man, am I glad I got the last year of real HD Motorcycles!!! This is ridiculous!!! Just what we need, more idiots on the road that don't have a clue. If you can't put up your kickstand, don't ride!!! What a bunch of crap!!! Actually, I ain't done! Maybe they figure if you can't start your bike because you don't know how to work the kickstand, they'll save w....ty $$$. They should supply matching trailers with them so people never have to figure out the kickstands, and never ride them! Geez, just trailer it and park it in front of your nearest Broken Spoke Saloon. Instant Biker!!! Hoist!
