Barbie Backrest
« on: July 25, 2007, 07:58:58 AM »

Hey Guys,
I would like your opinion on something...here is a picture of my new bike...with it's new pipes..and one of the other add ons that I am considering...it is called a Barbie Backrest.  Notice the bumps in front; it is supposed to massage you while you ride...they are expensive and get more so...hence my dilemma...they are also VERY hard to detach once they are on.

You forgot to metion that they function as back warmers as well as massagers, or is that to  be massaged, I can't think straight now....

One option a bike shouldn't be without.  Looks real nice!   (My MOCO supplied backrest doesn't look like that).    >:(

Wow very nice! Wish I had one for my bike, do you have the part number?
Remember to wash it off from time to time and give it a hand rubbed finish. ;D
I'm sure you could get plenty here to volunteer in maintenance chores. 8)
Remember if you don't keep them properly maintained they tend to make a lot of noise. :huepfenlol2:

Think of the money you'll save on  GPS. Afterall, that style back rest is always willing to tell you where to go.

As long as she is speaking into the microphone I may listen she has to speak loud and often though :huepfenlol2:

Try never to ride without one.

When selecting one however it is very important to make sure you get one that doesn't require a lot of other attachments or bling.

I have friends that have made a poor selection in their Barbie backrest and have never been satisfied with the looks, finding it necessary to continually modify it by adding (IMO) unnecessary bling.  :huepfenlol2:

Those bumps on the back rest, are they "OEM", or aftermarket "Bolt Ons"?

That would be one of the "required" bolt ons that some Barbie backrests simply scream out for :huepfenlol2:

...not sure if those are the silly cones models or the soft cushioned...tough to tell...the problem is that if you start asking too many questions, you may never find out...

I don't know..but if you ask me...that backrest appears to be a RIDER backrest as opposed to a PASSENGER backrest.  I think it has been installed in the wrong position.

Uhem...enjoy the ride!!!   :2vrolijk_21:

Since we'll probably never get the detailed view we'd like to see, perhaps you can show us another photo or two. May I suggest dousing those items in cold water, and soaking the cloth cotton covering. It really can bring out all the details and highlights.

Why don't you give it a try?
