Andrews 55 gear drive..comments?
« on: July 25, 2007, 01:06:46 PM »

I'm thinkin' about putting a set of Andrews 55 gear drive cams in my '05 SEEG.  It's a basically stock 103", with A/C, PCIII, V&H True Duals and SE Pro slip ons.  I'm looking for a nice low end torque curve and not real fired up about huge numbers, since it's a touring bike and what I really want is a nice fat passing curve without a lot of hunch and hype needing a lot of RPM to make HP.

What do you guys think? :nixweiss:

Coolbreeze,

Had that cam in my 05 CVO Cherry that I totaled.   Still have the cams sitting on the shelf in the garage.   If you go with this cam your going to want the compression to come up just slightly 9.0 - 9.5.   I would tell you I loved the way the bike ran with that cam.   I took the cam out when I installed the Zippers 103 Muscle Kit.    I believe the numbers were 114 tq / 109 HP.  I will look for the dyno sheet for you.   I used cometic gaskets to help bring the compression up from stock just a bit.

Now if Harry was really a swell guy he would just send the cams to Coolbreeze.

That happens all the time on this site.

Someone needs something and it magically appears.

So Harry what you say?
Hell, even at 1/2 price that's better than sitting on your shelf.

Chip,

I appreciate your help trying to get rid of them, but they are slated to go into my 88" when I upgrade it to a 95".

If you want a bolt in cam withput having to remove heads to bump compression then go with the Zippers 575 or FCC14 from Freedom Cycles. If head removal is OK then the 55 is a good choice.

well crap....   it looks like I may be spending money to save some.  again.    buddy had the whole wet-up ready to go into his 103 and blew the motor before the install... sooooo.....    I got the whole everything for 350.  couldn't walk past that could I?    I just hope I don't have to pull the heads to bring the compression up to get where I wanna be!  (that would sure suck up the savings, eh?)

Now I gotta go hunt for a map too...

Any body got any idea what I should expect with...   A/N filter, S/E pro slip ons, V&H True Duals,  PCIII, and the Andrews 55's?   I'm hoping for good torque down low...  it is a touring bike after all...   :)

Coolbreeze,

I would look for a map from a buddy on the site that has the 575's and the PC.   You will probably need to tweak the timing around 2750-3200 just a tad for times that you really wack the throttle from low rpm / throttle positions to WoT.

If you have a stage1 in ECM download than the person giving you the map would also have had to have that since the PC map is based off what is in the ECM.

Before spending a ton more money, I would try it without doing the compression increase worst case scenario you have to pull the heads and then just readjust your pushrods not a biggie.
