SAC brand grips
« on: July 26, 2007, 08:47:07 AM »

I've used Kuryakyn's ISO grips for many years.  They're not the most stylish things in the world by the feel great.

Have a reason to soon my grips off.  Was given a set of SAC grips several months ago and never eBayed or did anything else with them.  Now considering using them.

Does anyone have any hands-on (pardon the pun) experience with the product?  They are advertised as "the most comfortable grip" on the market.  Are they actually that good?  How well have they held up?  Do their colors fade in the leather work they do?  Basically just any pros or cons.

Thanks.

Of course I am going to consider the actual cost in my opinion, but those look very cool; detailed and quite sharp. Sorry I don't even know how they feel, but Ya's gotta love that look.

Just handling them off the bike they seem they'd be good on the bike.  But you just never know until they're actually on.

These things do look cool. Completely agree.  I received them for Christmas last year.  Was told I'd been seen looking at them somewhere though I had no specific recollection of doing so.  It's just that a good comfortable grip is actually a pretty big deal.  And I know these ISO grips really are comfortable.  Hate to find myself in another case where the enemy of good was better.

Sorry, forgot to answer that part first time through.  The come from SAC, the luggage people.  Site here:  www.coolsac.com

Check under "grips" then under the "carved leather grips" category.  Several other options there also.

Don,
thanks for the info.  You're absolutely right though...something can look cool as chit, but if they aren't comfortable, they're kinda worthless.

I did Terry.  It was before I had the tan seat.  But I'm pretty sure they're not a good color match.  Close enough that you couldn't look at one without looking at the other but different enough that they'd definitely be a contrast and not a complement.  This set would work with either seat too.

Thanks Nidan.  Were they in use on the Wide Glide long enough to get an idea of how well they'd hold up physically and cosmetically?

Don,
that is a way cool grip ( in my youth almost did a tatoo of the eagle/flag-ying/yang, couldn't still that long!), but i figured more for the flame grip in keeping with "red bike" theme ;D john

Of all their options those are definitely my two favorite choices.  That eagle grip just jumps out at me though.  And I have incorporated the SE bird head in a few places also.  So even though it's not the same head I can rationalize it being a continuation of the theme.

My levers have red and tan braiding on them already.  Also alternatively have either the black seat or the tan seat.  The mix of colors in the eagle grip do make them complement the rest of the bike and its potential variations a bit better than would just the red/black or the tan/black flame grips.

Your integration of items in the theme of your bike is always fun to watch, and makes for one "jam up" scoot! john
