Plain chrome end cap for starter?
« on: July 29, 2007, 03:42:59 PM »

I have been looking and can not find a place to get a plain chrome cover for the end of the starter. Does anyone know where to get one? It is for a 2005 Fat Boy SE.

That would be the solenoid cover.

I believe he was asking about the high torque starter cover, let me look and see if I can find you a location, they were discontinuing this part.

The end cap you want is for the Nipendenso high torque starter. It is a Drag Specialties part# DS-325197 , I was told it was discontinued but a quick google pulled up.

I called cyclepagers and they said the chrome starter end cap had been discontinued and they will take it off their web site.
Thanks,

I hope HD still makes those parts. They weren't listed in my 2005 parts catalog. I also tried a search on the HD website and they wouldn't come up. I have to go to the dealer tomorrow to pick up some frame protectors, that they ordered for me. I will see if they can find the parts.
Thanks for the help.

I should find out tomorrow or Saturday,if my dealer can get it, if not I will order it through Chicago HD.
I will take some before and after pictures, when I get it. It is only a 30 mile or so round trip to the dealer. I took off twice today  and ran into a cloud burst both times, so I turned around and headed home. When it rains here it really rains.

If I'm not mistaken, that end cap doesn't work with the starters that we have on the CVO's.  It was for the standard starter that came on 05 and earlier non-CVO bikes.  I had looked up adding this cover and they don't make one for our starters.  You either put in the chrome starter or just put on the chrome solenoid cover and live with the black one, like I've done...for now.

I was afraid of that, since the CVO uses a stronger starter. I was hoping they were the same on the outside.
Thanks,
