SE race tunner map for 03 SERK
« on: January 31, 2005, 10:40:01 AM »

Any one out there have a race tuner map and the dyno results for an 03 SERK with the following mods.

CNC Ported HTCC heads
SE-260 Cams
Rinehart Exhaust
Flat Top Stroker pistons
SE Air Cleaner

I have had the bike on the dyno and tuned by HD but these guys admittingly told me they had no experience in tuning bikes after they convinced me they new what they were doing and made all of the modifications to the bike.  The fist time they tuned it they got 115 hp and close to 115 ft/bs of torque.  The bike popped extensivley on deceleration and there was a huge dip in the torque curve from 2000 - 3000 rpm range.  Went back and they lost the map.(they told me that with the race tuner you cannot retrieve the current map).  They retuned it from scratch and now I am down to 109 hp and 105 lbs of torque.  Not only has the power decreased but that huge dip in the torque curve is still there.  I am new to the site and would appreciate any help I can get.

the difference in the #'s is not unusual.
you can dyno your bike 3 times in one day, and come up with different #'s.
as far as the popping goes. you have to play with the amount of fuel in the zero % throttle position. on my bike, i had to remove all of the fuel. some bikes have to add fuel.
as far as the dip goes the se-260 cam is designed for max performance in the higher rpm range. it's more of a race cam than a touring cam.
you need to find a good tuner, i would think with your mods your #'s should be much higher. maybe around 125/125

Check out D&D exhaust Fatcats - 2 into 1 ; they provide a special map. Rineharts look good, sound great and run good but if you want to unleash the beast - think 2 into 1.
I got rid of the poppin and the torgque curve  is full all the way up. I couldn't believe the difference. No dip. A friend of mine has similar setup to you, except he modified the throttle body (don't ask-he won't tell) and uses D&D Fatcats; he has dyno readings 149 hp. But who cares about hp @ 4500-5000 rpm. I got a Baker dd6 and get 90 mph
@ 3200 rpm. The torque is scary - thank god for that great backrest.

BurRidge, Can you post the name of the HD dealer? I'm getting mine tweaked this summer when the weather gets to a better baseline and I'm not wanting to pay someone to learn at my expence. I'm not far from you being in Plainfield.

Work was performed in Nebraska where I lived unil I moved back the Chicago region a few months ago.  I myself am looking as to which HD dealership to take my bike and have it re dyno'd here in the Chicago land region.

Thanks for the update BurrRidge, If I find out a good race tuner specialist in our area using corrective dyno data I will pm you. My bike is curently set up from a map set up by Create HD. They have a couple places they go to to have maps tweaked with a dyno, they dont have a dyno at thier location but they have been doing 103's for a while, so I'm told. So far drivability is very good no hesitations or poping, however I still have plans to have it dynoed in the summer. Let me know if you find any RT tuners locally.
