walked into my local dealers 2 days after the 07's went on line.  told him I wanted the RED serk. they promptly placed the order with Harley. this was June 17, 07.  was told bike would be delivered in Nov.  no deposit needed and no papers signed.  deal strictly done on WORD.  bike showed up day before thanksgiving.  papers signed at msrp, picked up bike day after thanksgiving.  never had a problem with dealer over anything.

Considering your position in the local HOG chapter and your close relationship with the dealer because of that, you should have been treated that way.  The "good 'ole boy" network works that way down here too.

deucedog,

Welcome!

So which color are you getting?

I just picked up my 08 SEUC Saturday.  Man, what an awesome ride! :huepfenjump3:

I got lucky...I called a few dealers trying to find one.  The dealer about 100 miles south of OKC told me that the truck was unloading and that there was a SEUC being unloaded as we spoke and that it was not spoken for.  I beat a path there and made a deal at MSRP (+ freight & set-up).

I have not done business with this dealer in the past, but "so far - so good".  100 miles away is a little inconvenient, but hey it's a nice ride.  The dealers here in OKC will probably be asking 3k - 5k over MSRP.

You will not have any problem with the deposit.

Welcome, When I decideed to join the elite CVO world and knew what I wanted, I called around and found 3 dealers that sold at MSRP. I put deposits down at each dealership. :huepfenjump3: :huepfenjump3: :huepfenjump3: When I got the call from Fremont HD I took it. I didn't have any problem getting my deposits back from Vallejo or Sacramento HD. Ask ask about the setup fee, Some dealers make extra money on that as well. My Electraglide setup fee was $450, I've seen as high as $900

I've done bikes with and without deposits.  I don't mind making a deposit and think a dealer would have a hard time keeping it if you walked away.  I'm guessing that there are some laws somewhere in some states that would keep a dealer (bike or car) from keeping your deposit if something falls through before you sign the papers.  I sort of like making the deposit just to make sure that the dealer knows I'm committed and he has the bike committed to me.

Welcome! Yeah you'll get the bike. Be careful! The market is not their anymore someone please tell the dealers. I just told my salesperson in New Hampshire that I would not pay a penny over MSRP. They sold the 2007's CVO's for MSRP and now their looking for $3K over in New Hampshire and $2K over in Massachusetts. The showroom is full of used bikes and new 2007 bikes including a few 2007 CVO's. Harley has flooded the market with bikes so our used bike prices have gone down and yet the dealeships still thinks it 1999. What really surprises me is people will pay this.

Thanks. Another poster asked which color we'd like.  Wife liked the Silver/White.  I like it too, but we both would buy the Anniversary as well if the silver/white didn't arrive sooner.  The Orange/Silver is nice, but we like the other two better.

You definitely identified a big problem - the market is soft.  I want to sell our 2005's before my CVO arrives sometime in September.  I had 'em both on Ebay at what I thought were just about "give away" prices and only had a couple bites.  Those people wanted me to practically give them the bikes.  At this point, if you have a bike you want to sell or trade, you need to decide how much that new bike (in our case, the CVO Ultra) is really worth to you.  We have two pristine bikes, if I have to give them away, I'd just rather keep and enjoy them and wait until another time for the CVO.  It's not like the two rides below are exactly "chopped liver"  ;D

You have two very desirable bikes the Ultra is a very pretty color combination. Have you tried consigment at a independent Harley shop?
I choke at the cost of CVO's today. I have a 2001 SERG with 1700 miles and I'll be lucky to pull $15K. I looking at a 08 Black Diamond CVO Springer. Presently my dealer is holding out for the $3K over MSRP. I owned 11 Harleys and I only paid over list once in 1996 for my FXSTS. I promised myself hell would freeze over before I would do it again. You might as well throw the $3K in a barrel and burn it. Harley dealers need a reality check!
I predict the dealers will be sitting on bikes this year for awhile. Look at real estate in the USA, it's stagnent. Cars sales suck also. I told my dealer to call me if he was serious with selling at MSRP and not to wait too long.

Of the 5 HD dealers I have visited in NJ, all of them are only asking MSRP (24,999.95) for the '08 CVO springer, and the were all black diamond springers... :2vrolijk_21:
