6300 miles on a 110 - lifter noise?!?!
« on: August 04, 2007, 08:16:52 PM »

Bike has been a little louder than normal for the last few days of riding. "ticking" noise noticeable when you are going slow enough to hear the motor.
Making a 75MPH run in 5th on the freeway just now and when I backed off for the exit the bike is not ticking - it's TICKING !!!! BIG difference.
Sounds like a lifter/ pushrod issue from an old Shovelhead for lack of a better analogy
Looks like I'm riding the 1997 Heritage Springer tomorrow and limp the ol wounded 110 into the dealer for a "that's normal" lecture.
Oh yeah - almost forgot - the primary is slapping around a bit more as well
Apparently the auto adjustment primary doesn't like 110 motors I hear
Should have got the used 2006 SE Fat Boy !!

Beerman,
You are not alone with the issues of the 110.
Look around and you will see.
PS They are not "normal".

Well, got it into the dealer today and a Tech road it and came back with a "Holy Chit" look on his face so apparently I NOT hearing things.
He says it sounds like the lifters are "bleed down" and that the primary chain is too lose as well.
