lilrebel's New Ride
« on: August 06, 2007, 11:48:50 PM »

I finally got my wife to take some pic's of the new bike (08 SEUC - Canyon Copper & Stardust Silver)
I have not decided for sure exactly what Canyon Copper is -- sometimes it looks Red and other times it looks Orange.
In this pic of the tank the sun is hitting the back edge and you can see that it looks Orange.
I like the color more everyday :apple: :orange: :nixweiss:

AJ,
Thanks.  So far, so good.  I've done a few things to it:  V&H Big Shoots - SE A/C - lowered the rear - and some chrome stuff.
I have a few more things to do:  replace windshield (HD 12" w/silver flames) - SERT (when available) - Pull back Handle bas (when available) - and a little more chrome (bad case of OCD, you know).

How does the new gray crinkle finish look on the engine? I haven't seen it yet.

Oh, & I hope that is your leg in the photo & not your wife's  ;D :) ;D

Very observant.  Yes, that is my leg...the hair on my wife's legs is red.:o  I couldn't get her to lay on the shop floor to get that angle for the pic.  She only lets me use her camera if she is close by and can keep an eye on me.

I like the granite finish on the motor.  I don't think it will be as likely to look as dirty or dusty as the black motors.

How did the dealer modify your ECM when the SERT for the 08 is not yet available?

The bike looks great...I'd like to see that color in person...like the gray engine.

No SERT yet - re-map only so far.  I am still trying to decide whether to go with SERT or PC or ...?
I had a PC on my 02 Ultra and with the V & H Tru Duals and SE A/C, the bike ran great.
Everything I have read indicates that with a SERT or PC and dyno tune the bike should run much cooler.  Right now it is running around 225 degrees - that's not too bad.  The bike needs to run better...it's ok now, but after having the PC and dyno tune on the 02, I know it can run much better.  I just have to wait until things become available.

I was at the local dealer yesterday, looking at the Anniversary RK and didn't even notice the Orange Crush SEUC right behind me! Without the leather TP, it just didn't jump out as a CVO.

The color looked really nice.:2vrolijk_21: There was noticeable orange peel on the sides of the front fender:( but the fairing, tank and TP looked pretty good.:2vrolijk_21: The granite PC on the motor is a lot smoother than the black wrinkle paint on ours.:2vrolijk_21: It even has some sheen to it, maybe call it a satin finish? It looks a lot better than the silver engine and is probably easier to keep clean since it isn't as rough as the black.:2vrolijk_21: The fairy wings are pretty big and I see why they won't retrofit to ours.>:( The brakes felt rock solid at the lever.:2vrolijk_21: I really want to ride one of those. The Isolated drive system looks kind of funky because it's so solid without the spokes or holes we're used to, and the view of the back side, from the right side, is strange looking.:-\ The integration of the front wheel ABS is almost invisible with the sensor in the left wheel spacer, almost totally hidden with the bike on the jiffy stand.:2vrolijk_21: The seat is totally different, with a firmer feel than the '06 and '07. Might not be such a rush to replace that one.:2vrolijk_21: The intercom connection is funky, coming back at you instead of off to the side. Jury's still out on that one.:nixweiss: I really couldn't tell the tank was bigger, it didn't even dawn on me to look for comparison. The front motor mount does look weird mounted to the front of the front head by a big zinc bracket. They really could do something better there to make it nicer. It will really stick out when the lowers come off and the shiny zinc turns gray.:(

Overall, it looked good.:2vrolijk_21: I asked when they're gonna have a demo to rent, but they don't know yet. :nixweiss:

The paint looks a whole lot better than the pictures on the web and the brochure. I bet it REALLY looks good in the sun.

Chief,

Boy, you really looked it over.

After reading about the paint, I really looked mine over before I made the deal on it.  No orange-peel, but did find one scratch on the right side-cover and the dealer said that they will have a new one for me in a couple of weeks.

My wife was a bit sceptical about the seat until she rode with me.  She says it is more comfortable than the seat on the old bike.  The seat is about 2 inches thicker than the seat on the old bike, so I really noticed the height difference with my short legs.  I have now lowered the rear, so I am back to my comfortable height.

I agree about the intercom plug.  Looks a bit weird where it is located.  Maybe HD will come up with a piece of chrome to cover it?

I like to looks of the bigger tank.  The tank appears to be a little taller and wider.  Should help with range, but I am not sure increased range is that big of a deal when everyone that you ride with only has about a 150 mile range.

I really like the color and it does look better out in the sun.  It is a hard color to describe.  I am thinking maybe it is red with orange flake in it?  Looks more orange to me than red.

Yea, good thing the place was empty. I was on hands and knees looking at times. It is a pretty bike. I'm sure you're going to love it.  ;D

Looks great :2vrolijk_21: I sure hope you took the lowers off ?  ;) Good luck with the new bike. I sure like the engine color compared to black.

Yes, they were on there just for the ride home.  They are now safely stored in a safe place and probably will not see the light of day again until the bike gets a new owner someday. :orange: :apple: :pepper: :carrot: :cucumber: :jalapeno: :bananarock:
