ok-what kind of 1/8 1/4 miles have these big twins turned?
« on: August 07, 2007, 08:11:50 PM »

Just wondering, what kind of dragstrip times anybody on any kind of screaming eagle has turned? Went through all of the my Dyno chart is bigger than yours with my Buick Grand National (bought it new in 1986). Everybody bragged about their Dyno-charts but when they raced them it was a big supprise.  I may be new to Harleys but I ain't new to racing and tuning. I have been tuning my ECM on my buick for years, timing, fuel, BLMs int functions, it's just a matter of the dealer letting me get my hands on the first SERT that the dealer did on my 110, (he won't give me the flash -says the tuner is like an artist who's work isn't for sale) then it full throttle tune from there on.
I never tuned on a dyno just with a lap top and data recording. Blew most of the so called big Dyno number GN's off my rear bumper.
I can't wait to baseline test my Dyna 110 kit at the smokes to see what she will do.

Here is my GN killing a big block chevy truck in NC in the 1/8 mile.
GN 138,000 miles valve covers never been off, 3650lb with a full tank, six cylinders , air condit, power windows. power seat + every option available in 1986 (Like A Bagger) with no nitros--funny what a good tune will do.

Show me your Screaming Eagle times so I have something to shoot for!!!

Well that's a damn fine question you pose there Rich! I haven't had it out on the track yet, but I'm looking forward to checking it out! And you're right, numbers don't necessarily mean squat! How good it hooks up and comes out of the hole. How good it pulls. Final numbers are great, but that don't help you when the race is over and you haven't got close to them final numbers yet!

I don't agree about the SERT tune. You bought the SERT, you bought the tune, you own the map! That's a buncha' BS about the work not for sale. He sold it already, and you bought it!

Why not try to make it to Hot Springs in Sept? We're gonna try to get a group together for some Track Time there. !/8th Mile. It should be a blast! Should be a great place to get your question answered. There'll be plenty of CVO's down there! Check it out! http://www.cvoharley.com/smf/index.php?topic=15704.0

If you get some times, let me know. Did you do any engine mods, or running stock? Have fun testing it out man! ;)

Here ya go Deacon! Hot Springs Arkansas! http://www.cvoharley.com/smf/index.php?topic=10014.0 There's a whole buncha' people going. How many will we get at the track, remains to be seen. I just made the arrangements today for the Track Time. I hope people get interested. I know I'd like to see how I did on my build. The bike feels as fast as my '89" Evo Pro Street. That's in the high 11's. I'd be thrilled if my SERK kept pace with that. But like you said, the ET talks, the numbers and all the BS, walks! ;) Hoist! 8)

I WANT TO BE THERE!!!!
Please everybody. you will never has so much fun in one day!!!!

Deacon,

When you paid for the dyno tune you paid him to do a job FOR YOU.   He didnt do it because it was free, he didnt do it because you are a good customer.  He tuned it because you paid him to.   I would go to the GM / Owner and get the map that was created for you period.   It is in your bike and you paid for the right to have the map.

End of Story.   I would not let it rest either.

jmo on this.

His dealer is not the only one that won't release the dyno map for the SERT.  My dealership stated it's their policy not to release the maps to anyone.  It sucks, and I've gone to the owner...it's his policy!!!  I guess he's afraid that people will "loan" out their maps for similarly equipped bikes and that will deprive them of having the bike on the dyno longer, causing them lost revenue (read: profits). :-\

I'd love to run my Banks 6.0 diesel at the Tuesday scramble at our local smokin palace but can't keep it hooked up...Somewhere around 475 hp @ 700 lbs/tq...A monster, it throws coal all over little cars with noisy exhausts, mustangs and various other hot rods...

Love the GN, they are gettin rare. Keep it straight. My hauler is the blue thing behind the SERKGLIDE.

I would be finding another dealer and let him know exactly why.   That's my policy

I'm with UB...Thats sounds like horse hockey to me...That's your data you paid for....

UB, so far so good with the boys you reccommended, the serkglide is running strong with rear head metal temps around 380...average crawl speed ( too common now in Sofla)

Hearing stories like this really lets me know how lucky I am, and what a great dealer I have. I always travel w/my SERT Interface and have a copy of my map stored on a web based email account so I can retrieve it if something were to happen while I was away from home. If for some reason your ECM went OOS and you needed to replace it and SERT on the road the map sure would be nice just to load back into the new hardware/software and keep on going. You'd be really SOL if you were at a dealer that didn't have someone capable of tuning the SERT and a dyno. :nervous:

Looks to me like this is one more item that needs to be reviewed prior to the dyno tune.  If the sorry POS dealer doesn't agree to provide a copy of the final map on disk, politely advise him to shove his dyno where the sun don't shine.  Plenty of other dyno's and tuners available, so there's no need to let jerks like this screw you.  I only can hope that this type of dealer will be the first to fold up the tent as the bike market continues to soften.

At least those of us with PC's don't need to worry about such things, since we can download our map from the PC to our computer any time we want.

I believe I might call my credit card company and dispute the charges because you didn't get everything you purchased, IE; missing parts. If nothing else it will give you the satisfaction you didn't just roll over and bark. You paid for the info it's yours>>>> Might give the dealer an attitude adjustment that it sounds like he deserves... Greg
