Touring Seat Fit Problem
« on: August 12, 2007, 05:24:21 PM »

Off to the European Bike Week in Austria next month, so thought I would see how my Comfort Stitch Seat (Part# 51157-04A) would look on the SERK.

Unfortunately, I can't get it to fit. I know the seat is OK because it's been on a couple of RK's. The two "humps" on the underside which appear to be in the same position on the stock seat are making contact with the fender approximately 1" too far to the rear which results in the hole in the seat rear mounting plate not alighning with the fender "nut", and the plate being to high off the fender. I've tried pushing the seat as far forward as possible, but still can't get the thing to fit!

Has anyone else had this problem? I haven't spent hours measuring up and comparing the stock & touring seat, but first thoughts are that the square hole that accepts the front seat tang is too far back - but could this be true!! A pal has the Sundowner version and will try his on the SERK next week, but thought I would ask the question now.

I replaced the SERK seat with a tallboy roadking seat. Fit absolutely perfect.

Try bending the tang down so that the seat will move forward; you should be able to get about 1/2" or so.  I had the same issue when I replaced the stock seat on my 07 SEUC with a lowrider after I took the tourpak off.

Had to do the same with my sun downer.
