Delays for '08 CVO Ultras
« on: August 15, 2007, 02:56:18 PM »

I'm more than a little bummed out about this.  I traded my '06 USE in on an '08.  My dealer said the bike was supposed to be produced on August 1st.  Originally it was supposed to be July 24th.  They wanted my bike to sell during the Sturgis Rally.  It sold for $30K during the start of the rally.  Black Hills HD had a message on their answering machine stating that due to the volume of traffic, etc., they would not be answering the phone that week.  -Understandable.  I called this past monday and was told by one of the owners that my bike had been delayed to a projected 9/14 production date.  He was told by somebody in the moco that they ran into some problems that needed to be corrected.  One was the new gas tank interferring with the engine.
-Just wondering if anyone else has heard of these delays and the reason.   :confused5: -Retail& Steve
PS The dealer asked if they could have some of the bikes on the floor at the Rapid City Civic Center.  They were told no, because the fixes needed to be done to these bikes.

I was supposed to take delivery on my '08 last Friday. After getting BS answers about logistics, etc  >:( , they finally told me yesterday that they are running 2-3 weeks behind on production, but no other information. I happened to be in Reno on business and they said a 10 day delay, but didn't know why. I'm only about 2 hours from York, I'd love to just go pick it up.

Would really like to know what the real reason is. I also read some chatter on the HDForums that the standard UCs are running behind as well. So doesn't sound CVO specific.

I don't blame you for being bummed out.  Your dealer should give you a bike to ride in the meantime.

Why did you trade your 06 in before the bike even arrived at the dealership?  That doesn't make any sense.  I've never heard of a dealer requiring nothing more than a deposit.  I would demand your 06 back and say they can have that when you get your 08.  That's just not right, I don't care who you are. :-*

VAZ,
I like your thinking! Wish i could sell that idea to wife unit. :nixweiss: john
As regard original thread Black hills should get you a bike (rental) until your comes in because you alleviated their inventory issue by giving them your bike for prime sales time, just MHO!

OK, I was offerred a free ultra rental bike 'til my bike comes in.  I do have another Harley to ride in the meantime though.  Black Hills HD told me they were only getting one 105th anniversary USE in, and they didn't want to "give it away".  -I'm mostly po'd because by the time I get the bike- assuming no more delays- the riding season will be almost over.  I guess if they get it right it'll be worth the wait though.  -Steve

Maybe waiting for corrections isn't a bad thing. I wish I had a choice right now.

This may be the first time the MOCO really did me a favor.  I put a deposit on one of the Anniversary colored '08 SE Ultras and was told that it would arrive at the dealership in 1-1/2 to 2 weeks.  I put a deposit on it, but checked back about a week later and was told that the ship date was 09/14/07.  As a result of the delay, I took a test ride on one of the bikes and decided to keep my '06 CUSE.  If they had not delayed the shipment, I probably would be dealing with problems on the '08 now.  I think that I'm going to continue to be happy with my '06, but I do wish you the best of luck with your new bike.  I'm still convinced that the Anniversary unit will be a great looking bike!

Back when I bought my '06, it was supposed to be a December ship date, but got moved out a month.  I don't think I got it until late January or early February.  I'm not sure if the delays are just on CVOs or if it's across the line for all bikes.

Picked up my '08 CVO Ultra last Saturday in Frederick MD.  Several of the dealers in the area have had them.  Have not seen any of the 105th Anniversary CVOs.

Love the bike, but runs as hot as the '07s.  Waiting for SERT or PC to come out so I can change A/C and pipes.  07 SERT/PC won't work due to the ECM change to accomodate the electronic throttle.
