I know.  I need to post a photo and I will, but I can't seem to keep these little black caps on my bike.  I've already replaced them a couple of times.  Are they really necessary?

Keep the dirt out of bleeder

Mine has never had one on it...It would be hard for the bleeder to suck dirt INTO the chamber, even while bleeding.

This photo shows the one on the '07 SERK.  It sounds like they are really not necessary, but they were on there originally, so I've just tried to keep them on.  I think that they just work themselves off due to normal vibration.

I still have mine on, it has been knocked of a couple times while detailing but other then that I haven't had any problems. Whether it's worth it or not I don't know, more probably my anal retentive self wanting to keep it on there. If you still have one on your SERK you may want to go to a hardware store to see if you can get one the same size or maybe smaller in diameter that may be tighter. I know this same rubber cover probably is a lot more at a dealer then you could would find at a hardware store.

I was actually surprised to find something from a dealer that was less than five bucks.  They've got me so programmed that I thought that $1.50 was a good price on a 5 cent item.  It may not have been a $1.50, but I recall something less than two bucks.  You're right about the hardware store.  If I could find them at Home Depot, they'd probably be $2.00 for a pack of 50.

You're right at that price you could probably buy a lot more at a Home Depot.
