Ol' Maudie Still Shines
« on: August 24, 2007, 09:15:42 PM »

Just got back home from strechin' Ol' Maudie out, on I-64 East.  Came out of 5th gear @ 5200 RPM, 120 MPH and slipped into 6th.  The Ol' Girl just won't quit!  My vision was so blurred about 4-5 seconds after I slipped her into 6th, I was leary of focusing on the tach.  All I know is, she had more, but she was gettin' a little woozy!  I seriously believe the Ol' Girl would "lift" before maximum speed was accomplished.  Not to toot my own horn, but I doubt she can be trumped!  ;) There endeth the lesson.  :huepfenlol2: Later--HUBBARD

Hubbard Hubbard Hubbard,

er uh Carl, it seems you posted this for a reason and stirring the pot seems to be the reason, so move over I have got the big ole stirring spoon in hand.

They say if you say it enough you too will believe it, just like ole Chip saying I got nothing, but hot air down here in Florida.

I know you keep saying how good she is running, but I still think ole maudie gonna get her a$$ busted in the near future, best to retire her than submit her to the ultimate insult that she just didnt have enough and Tilley failed you.   Gawd could you only imagine how much grief you would get from Chip if you were to lose to him.    Then again if you only stretch her out by herself she has no one to loose to.    ::)

I figure at least 3 or 4 people want to give her a final run before retirement.   Who knows maybe she will retire undefeated either way I know all parties involved will have had a whale of a time stretching em out.

With a list like this you may be better off retiring her hehe.

Chip and the non harley.   Does that really count if it is a non harley :)  Will Chip even be the pilot for that run?
Otis and top secret re-rebuild.
Me and my 95" motor.   Don't worry ask Chip it's all talk  (maybe), but I think your smarter than that.

Guy's just be fair and make sure Ol  Maudie is up against like competitors (ie, Harley Touring Baggers vs. Harley Touring Baggers)...... :2vrolijk_21:

Chip's got a Softtail (on steriods) so he's out unless he puts some coin into one of his Touring rigs........ ;)

If its an open competition can I enter a Buell 1125R just for kicks?  ;D

Some of the best rides (total disregard to traffic laws) I've had were with LEO. That, having a lawyer on retainer, and being smart has saved me many of times. It has also saved my wife (and me from paying higher premiums) when she has gotten pulled over. She's gotten away w/several warnings when the tags/registration have been run and my name comes back on them. ;)

Harry,
I always WIN when I'm by myself, or runnin' with somebody else!  That's just the way it is.  Having riden with you in the Great State of Florida, and coming to know you as "My kind of People",  I think an announcent is in order.  Look for it in the "Other Topics" thread of this Great Site.  :2vrolijk_21: There endeth the lesson.  :coolblue: Later--HUBBARD

Fatboy if your disqualifying Chip's Softail, we would be hard pressed to let you run your 146? HP monster against us now wouldnt we, but I would say sure bring it along it would be a great yard stick to see how the FLH's do with it.
At least you agree its a softail with a 200 pound weight advantage over the FLH's.   Thats a lot of ponies to have to make up for, if you consider  200/8 = 25 hp if you use 8 pounds per horsepower.   In either case I have to give it a try just to see how well it really runs after all.

BTW how do you like your new 1125.   A friend of mine is seriously considering getting one.   Any specific likes / disklikes about the bike since you have one?

d00d,
It seems I-64, as opposed to I-77, is a stretch of Interstate absent Police patrol.  While I may be tempting fate, I enjoy eluding their presence.  Might as well enjoy it while it lasts, right?  Damn, this "BIG MOTOR" sounds good at 5400 RPM!  Hope to see you, soon.  :2vrolijk_21: Later--HUBBARD

Your Lawyer rides a Triumph?  :nixweiss: Does his choice of MC reflect his representation?  A Man is judged by the company he keeps.  My Lawyer rides a Harley.  There endeth the lesson.  ;) Later--HUBBARD

Hub

YUP he rides a Triumph!
Different from you he has many to choose from, including his Harley!
Your right, a man is judged by the company he keeps, not by his bike or now many or how few he has!
What was the lesson and or your point?
