Thank you. I don't want to cut up my Glide however I'm due for a change and I like this bike. So with some cosmetic changes it should hold me over for awhile. :)

Looking at Chris' bike I really like the look of the Boom Cans. So I searched for them and they are tough to find. When I did find them they weren't shy with what they were asking. Well I like my pipes and the sound of them. So I decided I'd try and make a set of tips for them. If I use them I'll cut my pipes back and either bolt or weld the tips on.

Here is the stainless after I ran it through the roller. Since it is an odd shape it didn't quite line up so a little pulling and pushing was needed to get the ends line up. I tig welded the seams and than test fit hem. During final welding I heated them a little to much and distorted the shape some. I'll have to run a dolly inside of them and work them back to round.

Here the tips are just barely on the old pipes. I didn't want to push them on in fear of them not coming back off to easily.

The fender extensions showed up so I got to getting them fastened to the bags. I removed the paint and gel coat from the two mating surfaces. I than drilled two bolt holes in each bag and extension. These will hold the extensions in place when I epoxy them.

Here the two part epoxy is being applied. The excess that squeezed out when the bolts were tightened was spread along the seam.

I sanded the epoxy down and applied a coat of mud. One bag is nice and flat and the other has a hump in the middle of it. It is the bag not the extension.

Here you can see the high spot in the one bag. Since I'm not a body guy I used my spackling knife to spread the mud, hey it works for me. :) The last picture is after I tinkered with the hand long board some. I'm no body guy for sure!

The bags are now pretty close. I have been using a straight edge and checking my work as I go. I'm down to a small amount of touch up mud work, contouring some edges, filling pin holes, etc. If I don't go riding today I would like to get the bags in primer and work on getting some color on them this week.

Sanding, more mud, sanding, more mud. This is awful repetitive work. I'm to anal to do this kind of work.

Puz, just from the photo it looked as if the addition to the pipe might have too great an OD to fit inside the extension of the saddlebag.  They going to play together in their current trim or will it take another round of body and fender work?

I had the one bag all ready to prime and decided it wasn't straight enough so I started over with it. I'm much happier with it now. The pin holes and small voids in the mud was driving me crazy. This sure doesn't spread as nice as spackle!

Well, they "should" fit. :nixweiss: The fender is cut for a 5" exhaust and I trimmed the bags to follow the fender contour. Soooo with a little luck they will work. I should know (edited) later this week. I'm very busy at work so it looks like some late nights in the garage and no cruise nights.
