103" Performance Modifications Completed
« on: February 14, 2005, 08:39:23 AM »

I'm fairly new to the site, and just completed the makeover of my FLHRSEI2, which included engine performance upgrades and new paint scheme.  I am posting the results for those of you who may be considering similar modifications.  I also had a custom

i would think with those mods, you should make closer to 125#'s of torque.
your hp #'s are real nice, and come in nice and early.
at what rpm do you make 100 #'s of torque?

Sorry, the hp/rpm numbers that I gave were actually for torque, not hp.  Here are the numbers from the graph at corresponding rpm's for hp and torque:

RPM's/Torque/HP
3000/86/50
3500/105/70
4000/110/84
4500/108/92
5000/106/102
5500/104/108
6000/96/110
6500/86/107
7000/76/101

It reaches 100ft-lb. of torque at 3300 rpm, and 100hp at 4900 rpm

again,
the #'s look good, but there not much better than mine with minimal mods.
i think it may have something to do with the 264 camshaft.
with your mods you should have a 100 #'s of torque right out of the box.
your set up is more for mid to upper power. if you go with a cam that has a shorter duration, you will bump up your torque down a littls lower in the rpm range.
however, you might lose a little up high.
it all deoends where you want your power.
what did they zap you for those mods?

I'm happy with it the way it is.  It was at 89.5 hp and 95 tq. prior to these changes, and it really runs strong now.  I haven't tried to look at a breakdown of the costs for just the performance upgrades.  I had a number of other changes made at the same time, including a 6-speed, the paint set removed and reinstalled, and other goodies.  The dealer was running a special in December and January....25% off all SE parts and 20% off labor, so I decided to go ahead and get all of the changes made that I wanted to have.

TallyKing - congrats on the upgrades.  I'm also leaning toward the 3.37 gearing with the 6 speed.  What's your rpm @ 70 mph in 6th?  Thanks, PJ

I haven't paid any attention to the rpm's at 70 in 6th, but it's 2,900 at 80 mph in 6th.

Did the same. Installed the 6 speed transmission and changed the gearing to 24T X 37T primary gears (final drive ratio changed from 3.15 to 3.37). Haven't really had a chance to ride it, since we still have snow up here. But the increased torque these gears and sixth gear will give will be sweet in the 3000 to 4000 rpm range I think.
